I hope they beat the hell out of each other.
Obviously no love for the Bengals and I'm sick of hearing the local sports talk in my neck of the woods about the Redskins going to the Superbowl.

Erik Meyer

I can honestly say I have never heard of him.
Probably because he was an undrafted free agent from a D-II school (Eastern Washington)...he was like the Matt Leinart of D-II.

And yes, Anthony Wright sucks.

Since the Bengals has three former Lions, I hope they win by default.

By the way, can one of our Bengal friends tell me how Ethan Kilmer is doing and does he have a chance to make the team?

Not a lot has really been said about Ethan Kilmer this offseason. They're trying him out at safety, but if he makes the team it will definitely be because of his special teams skills. He was drafted basically to be a special teams ace. I think he has a good shot.

I hope he makes it. He was a nice story last year for Penn State and we certainly can use all the NFL alums we can get.

Just listening to the interviews with Palmer - - he sounds really hesitant..... If he isn't ready in his mind, he isn't going to be ready to play..... Lewis has said that he wants to put him in but Palmer is saying he isn't ready..... Wanting to play against Green Bay is kind of wimpy with the kind of schedule he will have to face for real.......

I just wonder if he will ever come back to pre injury strength..... The mind is an amazing thing.....

i saw him a coupla times (#82)....

Moss and Lloyd started...El maybe #4 behind Thrash....

That was ALOT of money to pay a punt returner...dontchya think???

One more thing....being El is a #3 or #4...whenever he comes in the defenses will be laying waiting for the trick play...

By week 4 he'll wish he never left....if he doesnt already...

Portis injures shoulder in opening series vs. Bengals
Associated Press

CINCINNATI -- Running back Clinton Portis partially dislocated his left shoulder during the Washington Redskins' opening series of the preseason Sunday night, a significant setback for the Redskins' revamped offense.

An MRI test detected the injury, which involves the bone popping out of place temporarily in the shoulder socket. Standard treatment involves rest and strengthening exercises.

There was no immediate indication how long he will be sidelined.

Portis opened the game by carrying for 8 yards, then blocked on pass plays. He didn't return for the next series, and headed for the locker room a little while later without his jersey to get the shoulder tested.

The Redskins got Portis from Denver in a trade for cornerback Champ Bailey in March 2004. He started 15 games for the Redskins the next season, and ran for more than 1,300 yards for the third straight year.

Portis started every game last season, running for a club-record 1,516 yards. He had nine 100-yard games, helping the Redskins win 10 games and reach the playoffs as a wild-card team.

He was counted on again to steady an offense that has undergone significant changes in the offseason. Redskins coach Joe Gibbs, who called the plays throughout his career, turned the offense over to assistant Al Saunders in the offseason.

Portis' backup is Ladell Betts, who carried 89 times for 338 yards in 12 games last season and missed four games because of a knee injury.

The Redskins' corps of running backs sustained another injury in the second quarter Sunday, when Kerry Carter had to be helped off the field with an injured right knee. Carter was signed as a free agent in January after missing last season.

Washington's second-string linebacker Chris Clemons sprained a ligament in his left knee late in the first quarter. Clemons, who started one game last season, had a brace placed on the knee before he was helped off the field. He didn't put weight on his left leg.

Well, Cincinnati looked pretty sharp overall considering all of the people who didn't play.

Doug Johnson and Anthony Wright were pretty impressive...I still want Carson back for week 1, but it's good to see that they can handle the offense if necessary. Chris Henry had a great game, as did Rashad Jeanty, the LB from the CFL and Domata Peko, the DT from Michigan State. I liked what I saw for the most part.

By impressive, I meant better than I expected they would be.

Wright 9-16 101 yards and a TD, 0 int's.
Johnson 11-14 128 yards and a TD, 0 int's.

I can live with those numbers...

I can live with it...just not very comfortably. As the game went on, Wright looked to be more comfortable with the no-huddle offense, recognizing blitzes and calling audibles, that was encouraging.

That being said, I don't want anyone besides Palmer in there from week 1. The difference between Palmer and Wright is obvious...Wright throws a flea flicker, the receiver has to come back to the ball and catch it, Palmer throws it and it hits the receiver in stride for a touchdown.

Seeing Anthony Wright leading the offense against the Steelers is no different than seeing Jon Kitna running it...it's nowhere near as effective and I don't want to see it. But if worst comes to worst, I'd be about as confident with Anthony Wright leading the O as I was with Jon Kitna, although neither of them has the arm strength to fully take advantage of the weapons around them (I wish we had taken a look at Kerry Collins).

as a steelerfan i would be more scared of kitna than wright. but we dont face the lions this year. (the steelers are plenty familiar with wright and what he can do)

i can see why you wouldnt want anyone other than palmer. if i was a fan of about 25 other teams i wouldnt want anyone but a healthy palmer either.
