I don't think it could POSSIBLY get any worse. Maybe if it was Packers-Ravens. But having to root for the Ravens? Maybe this will spark our team next year to see the Rats win it all. What an awful year for the Nation.

nothing is worse than seeing your team in the Superbowl for the first time and having them lose. There is only one "Worst Superbowl Ever" for me, and we all know which one that is.

This is horrilbe -- BAL -- the arch ememy/ SF -- shooting to tie us on Lombardi trophies.

I'm okay with an NFC team like SF having 6. I hope the 49ers f**king steam roll the Ravens.

If you thought his mid season Gatorade bath was bad - just wait until you see this. Next up - Suggs lathers him with oils.

So your Ok with sharing 6 titles with niners?

wwhickok

Yes stb. I am. Would i rather the Broncos and Falcons be in the SB yes. But the 49ers are a classy organization. Theyre in the NFC. Theyll be the 2nd, not first team to reach six. Just like we were the first team to reach 4. I can live with it. I do NOT want to spend an entire off season listening to Thug Fans running their mouth.

I like both teams because they've both demonstrated that they deserve to be in the SB.

No matter who wins, the fact that our number-one rival along with the only other team able to tie us in SB wins got there ought to be lighting a fire under the Ronney's asses and motivate them to stick a crowbar into their wallet and start investing in the future or at least to get us to the point where we can play a "modern" game.

And while they're at it, maybe they could once and for all get rid of the ridiculous "Steeler Football" paradigm which seems to be one of the biggest reasons why we tend to be spectators more than participants lately -- maybe spend some dough on a hypnotist to convince them that Mean Joe or Franco are not going to be taking the field anytime soon and that the league has changed a bit since then.

Who cares if the Niners have 6 trophies? Too many people hanging on accomplishments of the past. I don't cheer for the team based on what they did in the 70s. Good for the Niners if they win another one- I just wish that Harbaugh wasn't their coach.

**** Ray Lewis. The only player I would have wanted to win the superbowl was Tony Gonzalez and he is eliminated. He got his first and only playoff win this year- that is crazy and disappointing.

wwhickok

I agree on Tony Gonzalez. He will be a first ballot HOFer without a doubt. I will, as a football fan, miss Tony a lot. I wish he couldve had the opprotunity at a ring. Too many loyal years in KC.

What is wrong with the 49ers? I think they are a really exciting team. What their QB is doing is very impressive. That show Kaepernick put on against the Packers was awesome. The 49ers have a good running game...good defense... playmakers on both sides of the ball. I think they definitely deserve to be in...and I'd say they are the best team in the league this year.

The Ravens on the other hand are not a superbowl caliber team IMO. I think they got a little lucky with the matchups...and played consistent defense.... they don't make many mistakes. But their QB is weak... their defense is not dominant ...it's really good but not historic by any sense of the word... their offense is boring. The Ravens IMO represent everything that is wrong with pro sports. They have no class... their players are all about t them selves and show boating. If I have to see Ray Lewis do another dance I'll puke. The guy covered up a double murder for christe sake.. how is he not hated in the NFL? Ben gets accused of pushing him self onto a drunk girl and he's the devil... Vick kills dogs and he's worse then Hitler.... Ray Lewis helps his freinds out of a stabbing that killed 2 people...and he's the greatest LB in the league? HUH?

Not to mention their QB is a douche. The AFC is really boring this year... I thought Denver was the best team in the AFC by a long shot... but they choked. The 49ers were the best team in the NFC and they are in... So I hope they finish the job.

If the 2012 steelers played the 49ers right now...we'd be crushed. If we played the Ravens it would likely go down to the final minutes. heck it wasn't that long ago we beat them with Charlie Batch.

Anyone saying this game is evenly matched has no clue. The 49ers are far better in every aspect of the game than the Rats. The only way Lewis wins another trophy (he is the only player on the team you know according to all the prognosticators) is if the refs are paid off and call a lot of penalties on the 49ers. No way the Ratbirds are anywhere close to being even with the 9ers. Who cares if the 49ers get to 6? If that doesn't light a fire under the Steelers' butts, nothing will. The 49ers will be good for a lot of years to come. We better be ready to play or they will also be the first team to 7 SB wins.

I'm actually excited for the game, it'll be an interesting matchup and I don't have the irrational hatred of the Harbaughs that some do.

I'm interested to see how Kapernick measures up in the big game. The last time the 9ers and Ravens played the Ravens reduced Alex Smith to his 2005-2010 version, but they won't be able to use the same strategy against Kapernick.

A lot of great players that I'm glad are getting a shot at a ring too:
Frank gore
Patrick Willis
Ed Rees
Vernon Davis

And of course the old dogs ray Lewis and randy moss

Not to mention the obvious story of brother v brother coaching,

It's a game with a lot of good stories, I'm excited to see it

I must say after the first game yesterday i became less interested in the Super Bowl. I was rooting for Atlanta and the blew it. After that point I knew I would hate anyone involved in the big game.

I don't know who I'm rooting for, I think by the time the game rolls around or should I say during the game I probably will lean to one side.

For right now I hate both teams and the Ravens have the slight edge since they're in the AFC and in our Division.

Who cares if the 49ers tie us. We are allowed to go win number 7 and not have to root against them tying us. I just will never root for the Ravens especially in the super bowl. Come on guys.

Who ever wins deserves it, they both played very well in the playoffs, I myself hope the 49ers win, they deserve it. I'll never root for the Ravens, even if it means the 49ers get number 6, that just mean we have to go out there and grab number 7!

Couldn't disagree more. Flacco has something like 15 TD and 3 INT in the last two playoffs. He's stepped up big time and out gunned both Manning and Brady. The defense is healthy and playing better. Who else deserves it? The two teams they beat on the road don't. Houston? Cincy? Indy? And what's boring about a dynamic running back and a QB who throws the ball all over the park? Boring, to me, was watching last year's Pats/Giants slap fight, only topped by the horrible Indy/New Orleans Super Bowl. Nothing but five yard outs and crossers all game long.

That said, I think the Niners beat them by double digits. That team is loaded. People are worried about them getting to six, I hope they keep it under nine the next few years so it's in reach.

Yeah well ... plenty of folks said that going into Denver on 6 days rest, then they said the same thing about going into NE.

these two teams are very evenly matched. That Indy/saints SB was terrible. I think that was the most boring game I've ever watched. I loved the Giants/Pats games though, especially the endings were amazing.

Yeah, this SB is a real shit-sandwich for us Steelers fans for sure....

* Cheer on Ratbirds (UGH)

* Cheer on 49ers to overtake us in SB win percentage (their 6 for 6 against our 6 for 8).

I would have been happier cheering on Tom Brady.....and THAT is saying something.

steelfury02
01-22-2013, 02:08 PM
never said I wouldn't watch it - just not as excited - plenty of other things to enjoy on SB Sunday outside of the game itself - most of the parties/get-togethers I go to we end up having to quiet everyone down, unless the Steelers are in it of course.

Just a background for and excuse to have a party - still a huge Steelers fan first, overall football fan 1b

Oh there's some mojo, there's some playing above your pay grade, there's some luck, there's a lot of things. But there's also a HUGE difference in the offensive line, we improved 3 positions when Reid got hurt - left tackle, right tackle, & left guard. And the Indy game was the first game of the year when Ngata, Suggs, Reed, and Lewis were all on the field at the same time.

It's mojo, it's health, it's luck, it's timing, a lot of things have come together in really short order. Gotta give Caldwell some credit too for saying to hell with it and putting Flacco in the gun to score some frickin' points instead of *****footing around there in NE.

How can anyone that calls themselves a football fan NOT watch the Super Bowl?

Let me explain how:
1) The Ray Lewis Farewell Tour / Evangelical Revival / Revisionist History Committee / Dancing with the Stars Audition will be in full force over and over and over..........:yap:

2) The Coaches - both are excellent coaches and excellent douchebags on the sidelines :sissies:

3) The inability to pull for 1 team even in the slightest way....not with these 2 :poop::poop: playing.
