Wo0t!!!

I was at a friend's house last night and just as I arrived he was on the phone with another friend in our area who has season tickets. Turn out they weren't able to use them this weekend. My friend couldn't go either so...

:bouncy: :bouncy: :bouncy: :bouncy:

All I need to do to pay for them is to bring back a case of IC Light.

I know it's preseason but I'm so excited! I've never been to a game at Heinz Field.

As soon as I finish my breakfast, I'm hitting the road for Pittsburgh. Cya when I get back!

That is so exciting..... I know that you will have a blast..... We will expect a full report when you get back....

I just cannot imagine having tickets and not being able to go to the games..... My whole life would revolve around game days.....

You were certainly in the right spot at the right time.....

Wo0t!! :bouncy: :bouncy: :bouncy: :bouncy: :bouncy:

Well... I hauled ass out there and made excellent time. The drive from my home in Spring City took about 4 and a half hours till I got off the turnpike.

Went and met my brother. We talked at his place for a few hours and then headed for the game.

We decided to park at Station Square and then ride the boat over. I was surprised that it was $10 for a round trip ticket. Seems a bit steep, no?

Our boat was delayed a bit because of this:: http://www.pisnnapalm.com/pics/08-19-06_1823.jpg Nasty thunderstorm that rolled in on us. The downpour hit us as we were walking down the ramp to the boat and continued for a while after that.

It passed and then I we got underway and I saw this. http://www.pisnnapalm.com/pics/08-19-06_1834.jpg Oh man... what a gorgeous sight! :bouncy: :bouncy:

A little while later, after one more little downpour.... http://www.pisnnapalm.com/pics/08-19-06_1910.jpg

The seats were good. The half of the field closest to us was easy to see and for the other half we watched the jumbotron.

Now.... What I saw at the game...

1. Ben looked sharp. His throws looked good.
2. First team offense marched right down the field and scored. The no huddle offense surprised me. I enjoyed watching it alot!
3. The first team D looked pretty good. I know they were holding back. You could tell they were.
4. Troy missed a couple of tackles. He was overpursuing. He'll get it undercontrol. I'm not worried.
5. Duce looked rusty. :dang: I think his longest carry wasn't more than 4 yards..?? I'll look at game stats later.
6. The 2nd/3rd/4th team offense and defense were... well It was a bit boring to watch actually. Quite a few mistakes.
7. Holmes and Reid got a lot of play time. They both looked pretty good and made some good catches.

I would absolutely love to go see a regular season game. I think that I would pass on another pre-season game though. It was good to go and see an actual game live, but... I can't justify the money output for a preseason game.

The tickets only cost me a case of IC Light. That's what the guy wanted in exchange for the tickets.

However, gas, tolls, food, parking, boat ride... That was expensive.

I'm tired, but happy I went though.

The drive home wasn't as bad as I thought. Traffic was absolutely flying on the turnpike. I did 241 miles in about 3 and a half hours.:eyecrazy: All I did was stay with traffic.

I'm gonna sleep well tonight for sure!

Gas : about $50 round trip.
tolls: $27
parking: $10
2 boat passes: $20
Food at the game: $30
Food on the road: $15
1 case IC Light: $18

Total:: $170 <==ouch. (stings a little more coz I'm unemployed until school starts. I'm a school bus driver)

Seeing Big Ben connect with Cedrick Wilson for a TD pass....

bet you thought I was gonna say "priceless" didn't ya. hehe...

EDIT:: On a side note... I worked out the milage for my car on the trip into Pittsburgh. I did 336 miles on 8.6 gallons. That's almost 40 miles per gallon! Wo0t! I love my Toyota Corolla. :o) And that was hammering along at about 75 mph too.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I went. It just seemed that the crowd wasn't what I thought it would be either.

There was a mass exodus of fans at half time and even more after the 3rd quarter was over. I was still yelling my head off, whistling and waving my towel though.

Somehow the overall experience seemed a bit lacking. The first quarter was fantastic! The place was loud. Then it died down quickly.

I was surprised at the number of people I saw who weren't wearing anything that said Steelers on it. I wonder if they were Vikings fans incognito or people who maybe aren't diehard fans and just went to have something to do. I dunno.

I do think I will have a chance to go to a regular season game this year. A friend I made last year and who I went to the Fan Blitz with, knows several people with season tickets. He's optimistic about getting me to a real game. :o)

Well, the tsunami before the game didn't help the mood. On top of that and most importantly, it's a preseason game and it wasn't exactly the most "exciting" preseason game ever witnessed in Pittsburgh. Hit up the Dolphin game and it's completely different.
