The same answer as EVERY OTHER free agent thread: We don't have the money! End of story. We can wish all we want but we will not be signing a FA this year unless it's a bench warmer (the usual FA's we pick up). The FO will have it's hands full just trying to keep the player's that we have that are FA's, like Lewis, so the chance of us picking up a big name FA is pretty much zero.

He's a 31 year old Running Back that has 7300 yards of mileage on him.

How about we sign Keenan Lewis instead and draft a Running Back?

I have no problem with signing him, at the right price. I mean, c'mon, we have Redman, Dwyer and Batch (who's coming off of his 3rd major surgery in his life). Anyone at this point doesn't look too bad.

Also, when released, either Takeo Spikes or London Fletcher.

Lastly, can we get Steve DeBerg to play back-up QB???

Clearly we need to cut Ben and pull Brett Favre out of moth balls first. Once we've sorted the money out there, we move in for Maurice Clarett.

BOOM!!!

Championship.

we need a speedy complimemtary back as well. maybe willie parker? i hear he is fast.

Yeah, we're not going to waste money on Turner. Even on the downside, his agent will be looking for semi-big money. Can't afford him and our office probably doesn't want him anyway.

He didn't play that much in SD and he only played 4 yrs in Atl. Still got a lot left to give I believe, but price is to hefty. I always liked The Burner! Like another poster said, he's 10x better than anyone we have.

I don't see any advantage of signing him. He's older, has more wear and tear, and is not as fast as either Dwyer or Redman. Turner also had the advantage of running behind very good lines @ San Diego and Atlanta.

Frankly, I want to see what Redman and Dwyer can do behind a decent, healthy OL in a well constructed rushing game plan.

Turner was a great pickup for the Falcons. The Chargers could have used him after he left.

He toted the rock in the 300 carry range for almost 5 years in Atlanta. He seems to have worn down.

It will be interesting to see how SJAX does behind that powerhouse offense.

3 times as big?? Yes. As good? Not.. Maybe 5 years ago you'd have a case. Dwyer can play. Trust me.

If you go back and look at the blocking last year, especially as the year wore on, and we were running our 3rd option at RG, and our 4th at RT, none of our runners looked good. Frankly, Jim Brown would have look like crap running behind that mess.

All Dwyer and Redman need is a little better blocking. They are both a major load. True, they are not going to remind any of us of Fast Willie Parker, but I can see these two cranking out 1,500 to 2,000 yards between them if our line stays in tact. If we land Cooper in the draft, I'd be very surprised if they didn't.

The thing is if we are to go to a more zone blocking system neither dwyer or redman would thrive in that system.

How about we sign Keenan Lewis instead and draft a Running Back?

I second that notion. Keenan Lewis is the most important thing we need to get done. Our defensive secondary plays lights out with both Lewis and Ike Taylor on the field. Now with the addition of William Gay who played rather well for us the last time he was with us, we could have a pretty potent secondary.

Michael Turner is past his prime. We need a younger more versatile running back. I'd like to see us get someone like Eddy Lacy or Montee Ball through the draft.
