Nooooo, bring in The Fitz!!!! He can play here while the Bills are still paying him!

Leftwich is the biggest flop, even for a backup. Make him walk...

Charlie had his last great game against the Ravens. Time to retire on that note!...

Please, a DECENT, younger backup please?

I like this move.

Grad has been a Steeler fan all his life. But more importantly, he's a solid backup

Also keeps the MAC trend

Who will the Steelers look at next? This guy couldn't make it in the Raiders orginization,Ben is going on 10 years in the league and is the most injury prone QB in the NFL they need to do better than this. Its not a question of if but when and for how long Ben is injured this coming season. The Steelers need a young QB with Starter skill not a Steeler "Fan" who looks good holding a clipboard.Everyone talks about the need to draft defensive players, what happens when Ben goes down with no decent backup

Gradkowski is a perfectly decent backup, or do you forget when he beat the Steelers in a start for the Raiders?

Yep. Heck lets get Peyton manning as our backup. Why settle?

that was a fluke.

the problem is the asking price (i.e. "market value") for a solid back-up in the nfl nowadays is about $3 mil.

unfortunately the steelers are unwilling to invest more than $1.5 due to always being pressed against the cap.

fitzpatrick should be our back up with brian hoyer as the #3.

Peyton Manning is almost as old as Batch. This board would never go for it.

Too few QB's available for either starters or back-ups this year. Hoyer has a tender on him so forget that. Ryan Fitzpatrick can't even make it with The Bills and is actually the best free-agent QB available in FA right now so he will command too much money. What other options are there? I hear Vince Young and JaMarcus Russell are available, though.

Yes, a second round tender.lol... who the hell tenders a 4th string qb picked up off the street late in the season after being unemployed and then dumped by the steelers?

oh, thats right... bruce arians.

(word is the steelers brass really liked him)

then why did we dump Hoyer?

then why did we dump Hoyer?i think to activate a cb when our DB's started dropping like flies. or maybe it was OL.

i forget, but ben came back and batch won us a game as back up. they felt comfortable with that as opposed to keeping 3 qb's down the stretch.

that was a fluke.

Gradkowski completed 20 of 33 passes for 308 yards and 3 touchdowns, including an 11-yard game winning touchdown in that game as the Raiders pulled off a 27-24 upset of the Steelers in Pittsburgh.

just curious, how is that a fluke?

The Steelers have made a habit of making bad QB'S look good over the years. We made Cleveland Fans think Colt McCoy was going to be a star.

Then Harrison brought McCoy back to reality and he saw stars.

How do you figure that Ben is the most injury prone QB in the NFL? Yes he certainly gets banged up due to his style of play but for all the knocks he's taken he's never missed a truly prolonged period of games. 3 in 05, 3 last year, only missed 1 with the knee in 2011...not saying he doesn't have his health issues but all things considered hes out there 90 percent of the time.

I neither hate nor love the Gradkowski signing. Guy has starting experience, you may recall him leading a game winning drive against us in 09 (goddamn you Joe Burnett) and I like that he's a Pittsburgh guy. Lets just hope that BB stays healthy and he never has to see the field.

Gradkowski agrees to three-year deal with Steelers
Posted by Darin Gantt on March 13, 2013, 11:03 AM EDT
APThe Steelers were scrambling for quarterbacks last year when Ben Roethlsiberger was injured, but have made a move to lend some stability to the position Wednesday.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Steelers signed Bruce Gradkowski to a three-year deal Wednesday morning.

The local product, who played for the Bengals last season, set up a quick visit. The Steelers needed to get younger there, with elders Charlie Batch and Byron Leftwich both unrestricted free agents.

The 30-year-old Gradkowski lends a bit of stability there, rather than the Band-aid and hope plan they had before.

Good signing.

anytime they can get younger at the back up qb spots it doesnt hurt.

could get the first down with his feet.
