Gerry Dulac ‏@gerrydulac:

Steelers sign TE David Johnson to one-year deal. He missed 2012 season with knee injury.

I'm hoping this guy is not our starting tight end while Heath is gone.:frown:

This guy keeps coming back like Freddy Kruger, or Jason , or Michael Myers. Will it never end?

El Gonzo isn't a negative nancy! He's one of the better posters on here. I think it was a joke :chuckle:

Don't like this signing either - better be for cheap - Hopefully we'll find a draft pick or FA who will beat him out in camp.

I like it. You guys might not remember but last preseason there were a lot of plays designed for Johnson that actually worked before his injury.

Not bad at all the most important thing we are doing this free agency is getting depth.

I remember last pre-season the reports that he was going to be our FB. Apparently he looked good in that role until he got injured. The Steelers certainly could have used a good FB this past season to spring our RB's. I think this is a good signing.

Will Johnson actually did a good job last year and had the praise from the coaches and Colbert as well this offseason. It was his first year playing it to ( was a te in college ) so I expect him to get better and hold the fb spot. David I think will be there for te depth.

It's an insurance move. W. Johnson looked good but D. Johnson was looking good in the new system before he got hurt too. It's a small move but not one to freak out over too.

Wasn't there reports of him being an absolute beast during training camp? He looked like he was going to have a great season and then BOOM out for the year at the start of preseason. With the emergence of Will Johnson as a great fullback, I wonder what they have in store for David.

I liked this signing! We now have Spaeth, Paulson and Johnson while we wait for Miller!
