With the front office unable to move on from older players with diminishing skills, do you think Hampton would be resigned cheap if there isn't a market elsewhere? Or is he pretty much shot?

What 3-4 team would need an aging NT?
Maybe as a backup for Vet min.

When I opened this thread I hoped to see....."was released."
Time to move on.

Love Hampton and all he's brought to the Steelers. I agree though it's time for the Steelers to move on. I would be surprised if we try to bring him back. He'll be missed. He was literally a big part of the SB winning teams.

The problem is McClendon as never taken full time reps...So he is still a question mark..

waste odf money the4 last 2-3 years. dont want him back for league minimum. time to develop someone that can help this team in the future. enough of this fatass coming into camo way over weight and taking half the saeason to get into game shape

We have Ta'amu, McLendon and Fangupo. Why do we need Hampton?

The problem is McClendon will never take full time reps if the Steelers keep re-signing Hampton.

Ta'amu was cut a long time ago.

What would be the point of signing Hampton? The Steelers don't need 4 NTs. Hampton is a player who should have been let ago 3 years ago.

Ta'amu was let go and then re-acquired. He is on the roster.

First I disagree that he should have been cut last year. Primarily because I don't believe McLendon is his future replacement. Sure he is in the short term but McLendon is no Hampton and frankly not even close.

Having said that, I truly hope Hampton retires.

Hampton was injured for the first part of last season. When he was healthy he did a little more than his job, unlike his supposed replacements who are at least not as bad as Hood, who needs to keep a passport with him on the field so he can get back from whatever country he keeps getting driven back into. Cutting guys just because they hit some birthday to make room for the guys who can't win the position away from them is just stupid.
