too high?

12. Pittsburgh Steelers

QB: Ben Roethlisberger
RB: Jonathan Dwyer
FB: David Johnson
WR: Antonio Brown
WR: Emmanuel Sanders
WR: Jerricho Cotchery
LT: Marcus Gilbert
LG: Ramon Foster
C: Maurkice Pouncey
RG: David DeCastro
RT: Mike Adams

Offensive Overview: Heath Miller is not listed because he tore his ACL, MCL, and PCL in December and won't be ready for Week 1. If the Steelers lose Sanders to a restricted free agent offer sheet -- New England is interested -- Big Ben's weaponry would take another crushing blow. Roethlisberger's presence and a seemingly promising on-paper offensive line keep this unit competitive, but it's no longer a juggernaut.

The Steelers will have to attack the skill positions in the draft. GM Kevin Colbert will pick eight times in April.

LE: Ziggy Hood
RE: Brett Keisel
NT: Steve McLendon
ILB: Lawrence Timmons
ILB: Larry Foote
OLB: LaMarr Woodley
OLB: Jason Worilds
RCB: Ike Taylor
LCB: Cortez Allen
FS: Ryan Clark
SS: Troy Polamalu

Defensive Overview: The Steelers ranked first in total defense, first in pass defense, and second against the run in 2012. The Dick LeBeau factor means Pittsburgh's defense will almost certainly remain stout, but it's a group in significant flux. Gone are stalwart outside 'backer James Harrison, nose tackle Casey Hampton, and left corner Keenan Lewis. Potential in-house replacements Worilds, McLendon, and Allen are largely unproven. The Steelers will have a good defense in 2013, but will it be good enough to carry the team?

This is a borderline playoff lineup.

Is BB still on the roster? Yes.

Then, the Steelers will always have a chance at winning the SuperBowl.

The Ravens are ranked 6th despite losing 7 starters on their team which include Ray Lewis and Ed Reed. They lose Boldin and Pollard and they have a great roster? See, this is why I hate the offseason. In what world did the Ravens just improve?

Oh, it was from rotoworld. Gotcha.

You mean there are 11 teams randomly rated better than the Steelers before the draft? This is an outrage!

Boldin really matters but they have a really good rb and tight end plus two good young WR's. The lost Lewis but lookedbetter when he was out. They lost an old and slowing Reed but replaced him with a younger Huff. They also added a pro bowl OLB to go along with there other probowl and defensive player of the year OLB.

I don't like the Ravens but I think we lost more this year. There getting good players back and were not.

They lost Birk, Reed, Pollard, Lewis and they're replacing them with horseshit. You're saying they have two good young WRs - who? Torrey Smith? No. Jacoby Jones? Houston cut him for a reason.

Huff is 30 years old so that's a minor step down in age and a huge step down in talent.

They lost the two guys that anchored their defense for a decade and we lost a CB that didn't have a single pick, a WR who had problems with catching the ball all year, a RB that loved to fumble and an OLB that was 35 years old.

So I'll ask you again, how did we lose more than they did? They replaced Pollard and Reed with Huff and Ighedibo. That screams talent to you? Really? They let Boldin walk because they have faith in Jacoby Jones who played against bad secondaries during the playoffs. Their offensive line is going to be in shambles as Birk just left and McKinnie is poised to leave too.

Granted, they got Dumervil but he's 30 years old. So, they replaced a young Kruger with an older Dumervil.

They're not replacing these guys with talent, they're replacing these guys with whatever warm bodies are currently free agents. That team is in shambles right now because of the loss of leadership. We lost at positions that either a) had a better player waiting to play anyway (Allen > Lewis) b) have younger talent at in AB and Manny or c) can be drafted in the later rounds due to the depth. They lost all of their leadership in one purge and we lost guys that can be replaced in one draft.

^^^^ This.

If you want to see what the Ravens will look like next year, there was a stretch right after Batch beat them that the Ravens were stuck in neutral and a team in crisis.

I can't say anything bad about his performance on the field-- Ray Lewis drank his deer antler juice and literally inspired that team's path to the SB. They were going nowhere until Ray-Ray came back in week 15 and put the team on his shoulders.

I drool at the thought of a Steelers-Ravens opener...they will be fat and satisfied, and missing two hall of fame defenders, not to mention half their Oline. 41-0 is not out of the question.

How often do the Steelers line up offensively without a tight end, or two?

Maybe the guy who wrote that article figured out Paulson and Spaeth can't catch a cold, and thus that might be how the Steelers are going to line up game 1 this season. If it is, I'd move the Steelers down to around #16.

If you think #12 is too high others agree

ESPN puts the Steelers at #16

NFL.com guesses #17

Prisco has the Steelers at #18

They've suffered some hits in free agency, but they usually do. This is a team that focuses on the draft.

Let's just say nobody has the 2013 Steelers winning the next Super Bowl

Depends on your perspective - I enjoyed the Steelers delivering on preseason predictions in the 70s:chuckle:
