... and modz, please feel free to move this thread to the appropriate location if necessary, I wasn't sure where to post.

So I'm from Texas and visiting Pittsburgh for the first time in about a week. :tt02:
Im going to take a Saturday tour of Heinz Field on April 13th.

I am really excited since I've only seen The city and Heinz field in pictures and on TV. Can anyone who has been on the tour share their insight on what they think of the tour?

Also, any ideas of where to go for a drink or a good dinner? hotspots? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks Steeler Nation!

I loved the tour. My brother & I kept getting "lost" from the group... and ending up having certain areas all to ourselves (luckily for us: the security guard was way cool). We got pictures of us in the booth (where we were technically not supposed to be), in the locker room (by ourselves), in the tunnel (by ourselves)... it was just plain cool!!!

Primanti's downtown is the best. I would eat there before AND afterwards.

The secret is being friendly & courteous to the security guards. If one acts indignant, they'll escort you out in a heartbeat. My brother & I got one security guard involved ("Come on, man... pose like you're scoring a TD"). He gladly obliged.

I think that my EQ is my strong suit... as well as my penchant for humor. For example, in the booth, I pretended that I was Madden & my brother pretended like he was Ed McMahon (for whatever reason), and thus, the guard just started laughing at us... and then, once he stopped laughing, he kindly asked us to "catch up with the group."

Anyway, as the adage goes: one gets further with honey than with vinegar.

At Primanti's... oh man... the egg sandwich is my favorite, but that might be because it's the fist one I ever had. In all seriousness: you can not go wrong.

PS. go for extra meat and an egg on your first primantis sandwich. (corned beef, roast beef and capicola are my favorites washed down with an iron city)
