49ers agreed to terms with CB Nnamdi Asomugha, formerly of the Eagles, on a one-year contract.

Asomugha chose the 49ers over the Saints and his former DC Rob Ryan. Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the deal is worth "up to" $3 million, and includes a $1.35 million base salary.

Asomugha is an excellent cover corner but a liability in zone- all in all a good deal for the 49ers.

Great deal. No risk at all, and only improves an already great D

He's one of the best man-to-man CBs in the NFL. The Eagles didn't use him properly, but what else is new with that fuck up of a franchise? If he was 3 - 4 years younger I would've advocated grabbing him but he's right up there in age with Taylor and wouldn't be a long term solution.

If you say so.

Once again.... if you say so.

Dude got absolutely toasted the past two seasons and was hounded by his teammates for not even putting in any effort. Sure, he was good once, but that time has passed. It has nothing to do with the Eagles "not using him properly".

When was he good?

From about 07 or 08 to 2010.

I'd say making him play zone with no Safety help isn't using him properly.

the Eagles ran a lot of man-to-man last year. It was obvious that he just wasn't cut out for it. He got let down somewhat by the safety play in 2011, but 2012 was all on him and his coverage skills deteriorated completely.

Why do you think that?

When was he good?

The 3 years he went to the Probowl? The 2 years he was a first team all-Pro?

Nnamdi was and is way overrated. How hard was it to be great on those Raiders teams?

All the other team had to do was run the ball or throw to the other side of the field. Nnamdi was never challenged because there was no reason to bother throwing to his side of the field. Nnamdi only played one side of the field. He rarely ever covered the #1 WR unless he happened to be on his side of the field. When he was thrown at, he got burned plenty.

Nnamdi is a decent CB, but he isn't anything special. He is certainly not in Revis' league.
