kiss all your cell phones, and twitter, goodbye........

National Security: The administration moves an advanced missile defense system to Guam because it knows a single low-yield nuke detonated at high altitude could send America back in time a hundred years.

The announcement Wednesday by the Defense Department that it would soon deploy the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense System (THAAD), a missile defense system inherited from the Bush administration, to Guam underscores the seriousness of the threat from North Korea, whose actions, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel rightly said, "present a real and clear danger."

This move comes after the Obama administration reversed its previous scuttling of Bush administration plans to increase our ground-based interceptor force in Alaska and the deployment of two destroyers equipped with Aegis missile defense systems, the Decatur and the John McCain, to the region.

Some observers dismissed it as familiar bluster when North Korea's 28-year-old raging runt, Kim Jong-un, signed an order for North Korea's strategic rocket forces to be on standby to fire at U.S. targets in front of a map that included Austin, Texas, as a target.

But other observers are concerned that a specific target may not be what the possibly imploding North Korean regime may have in mind.

The three-stage missile North Korea launched last December that also orbited a "package," which experts say could be a test to orbit a nuclear weapon that then would be de-orbited on command anywhere over the U.S. and exploded at a high altitude, releasing an electromagnetic pulse (EMP). That would fry electronic circuitry and the nation's power grid.

North Korea Warns Russia To Evacuate Embassy Staff From Pyongyang

MOSCOW – North Korea has advised foreign diplomats to consider evacuating their embassies there, in light of increasing tensions in the area, Russian and British diplomats said Friday.

Russia’s foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, told reporters traveling with him in Uzbekistan Friday afternoon that Moscow was seeking more details about the North Korean statement before making a decision about whether to evacuate. Lavrov said Russia was treating the statement from Pyongyang as a suggestion and not an order.

The British Foreign Office said its embassy “received a communication from the North Korean government this morning saying that the North Korean government would be unable to guarantee the safety of embassies and international organizations in the country in the event of conflict from April 10"

They haven't tried a test on the 2 longer ranged missiles and can't hit anything with the 3rd. But they could launch a long ranged missile they've never tested and cease to exist.

US warns N. Korea against 'provocative' acts

WASHINGTON — The Pentagon warned Pyongyang on Friday that "further provocative action would be regrettable" after reports that North Korea had deployed two mid-range missiles near its eastern coast.

I firmly believe kim jong un knows better than to attack us or any of our allies. I actually think our government and the mainstream media have this one right. He's trying to make a name for him self and rally his citizens behind him. He should know that if he harmed one hair on our head it would mean his death. Think about it, the most successful attack against the united states in the last 50 years happned on 9 11 01, after which we learned osama bin laden and al quada were responsible. We spent the next 10 years blowing the shit out of every country associated with osama, then with great precision we shot Osama bin laden in the heart and the face. There has not been a successful attack on US soil since 9 11 01, Osama and most other al quada leaders have been killed, and we blew iraq up and killed saddam for the hell of it. So we're winning a war against a faceless enemy, imagine what would happen if we actually went to war with a country, that has a leader. I know North Korea is no slouch in the military department, but to put it bluntly we would kick... their.. ass. and Un knows it.

Russia says G8 nations reject "bellicose" North Korean behavior

(Reuters) - Russia said on Tuesday the G8 was in agreement in rejecting North Korea's recent provocative behavior and urged all sides to pursue diplomacy to calm down the increasingly tense situation in northeast Asia.

Speaking before a regularly scheduled meeting of Group of Eight foreign ministers on April 10 and 11 in London, Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said Russia shared its partners' concerns about the North.

"We are in solidarity with them as regards the rejection of Pyongyang's current provocative and bellicose line of conduct," he said in an interview with state news agency RIA that was posted on the ministry's website.

"At the same time, we must not renounce political and diplomatic efforts, as any alternative brings the threat of profound upheaval in Northeast Asia," he said.

North Korea has intensified threats of imminent conflict against the United States and South Korea in recent days, and on Tuesday warned foreigners to evacuate the South to avoid being caught in a war.

RIA cited an official at the Russian embassy in Seoul as saying there were no immediate plans to evacuate.

Russia has stepped up criticism of North Korea after the Soviet-era client state conducted a nuclear test in February, which led to new U.N. Security Council sanctions that both Russia and China, the North's closest ally, approved.

The G8 includes the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Canada and Russia.

Japan, U.S., S. Korea dispatch destroyers to track N. Korean missile

Japan, the United States and South Korea will deploy seven radar-equipped ships in the Sea of Japan to monitor, and possibly destroy, any ballistic missiles launched by North Korea.

Japan dispatched two destroyers of the Maritime Self-Defense Force to the Sea of Japan by April 9. The U.S. Navy also sent three Aegis destroyers not only to waters near Japan, but also in the vicinity of Guam to protect that U.S. territory.

The medium-range ballistic missile Musudan, which North Korea has been moving in recent days for a possible launch, has a range of about 3,000 kilometers (1,864 miles). That was estimated based on the diameter and overall length of the missile that has been displayed in public, as well as from the capability of the SSN-6 submarine-launched ballistic missile developed by the former Soviet Union on which the Musudan is modeled on.

However, the specific capabilities of the Musudan remain unknown because it has not been test-launched in the past.

Another major problem facing Japan and its two allies is the fact the Musudan missile has been placed on a mobile launch pad. That means it will be extremely difficult to determine the target of the missile until immediately before its launch.

Experts believe the missile could reach the vicinity of Japan about 10 minutes after it is launched.

Bomb North Korea, Before It’s Too Late

The Korean crisis has now become a strategic threat to America’s core national interests. The best option is to destroy the North Korean missile on the ground before it is launched. The United States should use a precise airstrike to render the missile and its mobile launcher inoperable.

President Obama should state clearly and forthrightly that this is an act of self-defense in response to explicit threats from North Korea and clear evidence of a prepared weapon. He should give the leaders of South Korea, Japan, China and Taiwan advance notice before acting. And he should explain that this is a limited defensive strike on a military target — an operation that poses no threat to civilians — and that America does not intend to bring about regime change. The purpose is to neutralize a clear and present danger. That is all.

Sounds like a plan - we all know limited defensive strikes never pose a threat to civilians - I am certain China will have no issues once an explanation is provided - go for it:thumbsup:

The op-ed author lives in one of the U.S. cities that are on the North Korea hit list, so this may be motivated by a selfish interest in preserving the Austin way of life

When North Korea announced that its missiles were now trained on specific U.S. cities a couple weeks, many were surprised to see Austin, Texas on the target list alongside Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. Kim Jong-un's reasons for wanting to destroy the Texas capital aren't entirely clear — the Samsung plant and provocative hipster population have both been floated as possibilities — but, either way, University of Texas professor Jeremi Suri isn't taking any chances. In a New York Times op-ed titled "Bomb North Korea, Before It's Too Late," Suri, who teaches history and public affairs in Austin, argued for a pre-emptive strike

Austin may be saved

North Korea’s official news agency announced today that the military’s planned missile test had been put on hold because of “problems with Windows 8.”

Intelligence analysts said that the announcement gave rare insight into the inner workings of North Korea’s missile program, which until last year had been running on Windows 95.

The announcement from the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) did not indicate a new scheduled time for a missile test, saying only that it was “working with Windows 8 support to resolve the issue.”

In the words of one intelligence analyst, “That means the test has been delayed indefinitely.”

A source close to the North Korean regime reported that Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un is furious about the Windows 8 problems and is considering a number of options, including declaring war on Microsoft.
