Anyone play this thing? It won a bunch of gotys last year which was weird because it's a licensed adventure game. I got it about a week ago and beat it shortly thereafter. I've played a bunch of games in my time, and I must say this is the most emotionally engaging and heartbreaking story that has ever been told in the medium, possibly in overall media history, no lie. I got the entire collection for $20 on bestbuy but you can buy the episodes individually if you're unsure on Steam, XBLA and PSN. They're definitely worth it. I cried like a bitch at the end

I've been wanting to play it. Between work and everything I don't play games nearly as much as I used to. Not for a lack of wanting to play, just don't have the time. I played the demo and enjoyed it. One of these days I'll pick up the retail copy and play through it. I'm actually a huge Walking Dead fan. I watch the TV Series religiously and I've completed both Compendium #1 and Compendium #2 of the graphic novels that cover issues #1 through #96.

it shits all over the show writing-wise and is on par with the comics. I actually thought the second episode was written by Kirkman himself when I was playing through it. It really helps that you make all the choices, and there are some really tough ones, both split second choices and longer, more thought out decisions. You're gonna enjoy it when you play. My girlfriend doesn't even like games and she made me wait for her to play that's how much she enjoyed the story.

Yeah my wife wants me to get it and she generally despises video games. She also wants me to get that other Walking Dead game, the one where they are basically trying to make as much money off the popularity of Daryl Dixon's character as possible.

I didn't like Survival Instinct as much as The Walking Dead. The Walking Dead comes with several episodes, and season one of the game is up for sale now on XBL and PSN. I have season one in it's entirety, and season 2 is coming soon.

yeah I rented survival instinct when it came out. It actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, had some interesting ideas, but it was clearly a cheap cash in. too bad, it had potential

that's the only game I ever replayed immediately after finishing it - no matter the crappy aiming system or storybook graphics

I had to know what the alternate decisions looked like

It's a VERY story-driven game. Graphics are certainly not it's strong-suit. I believe they went with character models heavily influenced by comic books, which is actually kind of cool. The story of this game and the decisions you make grip you in so many ways that graphics aren't even in your mind. If you want a badass graphical game with a gripping story, I recommend you check out "The Last of Us". Arguably one of the greatest games I've every played.

Awwwww man. Sony has published some of the greatest games of this generation for the Playstation 3. It KILLS me that not everyone gets to experience this. I've actually had some friends buy a PS3 for the sole purpose of playing The Last of Us and games like Heavy Rain & the new "Beyond: Two Souls". If you get any extra $$$$ definitely look into it. I believe the PS3 12GB model is $199 and the new PS4 may have a downloadable version of the The Last of Us available in the near future.

Yea, and you may have another one too, :chuckle:

My Son asked me if we could buy a PS. I may have to cave on that one, but I'll stick with XB overall. We'll see.

Thanks Brother! :drink:

i need to replay this game

the second time around Kenny died like you said, when I tried to be nicer to Llily earlier, didn't matter, she still flipped out

you play the '400 Days' DLC add-on?

I heard Survival Instinct really sucked - horrible reviews

It’s a half-baked attempt at a game that can be fun in the occasional spooky part, but ends up under-delivering in every way.

The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct is the exact sort of lazy, cheap cash-grab that gave licensed games a bad name in the first place.

The fundamentals for a good game are here, but it doesn’t take long for it to become clear that The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct is a rushed cash grab, made to leech of the popularity of the show

This game felt like it was headed in the right direction then some executive just stepped in and said "Release it now!"

The only thing going for the game is the voice over actors Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker which, unfortunately for them cannot do them much

I just got this for Christmas and after maybe 5 minutes I wasn't all that impressed because I was expecting another twitchy first person shooter. Well, I sat down and played it again and got absolutely hooked. This was such an AMAZING story and the interactiveness of it just adds to the drama. Incredible concept, incredible story, incredible ending.

Normally I run screaming when I hear "adaptation," but this game is a legitimate GotY winner.

Loving this game so far. The wife is hooked as well which is new because she's not a gamer by any stretch of the imagination. I'm only part way through the third episode however.

I think my game has a glitch or something. When I finished the second episode, it kept going back to the start. I bought the complete edition brand new at GameStop a while ago. Maybe I need to download an update off Xbox Live?
