The Denver Broncos released running back Willis McGahee, the team's starter the past two seasons, from their crowded backfield on Thursday.

McGahee, pushing 32, is coming off a significant knee injury that sidelined him for the final two months last season and was set to make $2.5 million in 2013. McGahee said earlier this week that he's 100 percent now and has no restrictions running.

McGahee rushed for 1,930 yards with eight touchdowns in 25 games with the Broncos.

I say dump both Redman and Dwyer and use their money on McGahee and Leach

Willis McGahee had/has one of the best stiff-arms in the game.

yeah, we're gonna drop 7 million on two over the hill players, one of which has had TWO season ending knee injuries....but hey, one guy has a mean stiff arm and the other is a beast. Shits getting ridiculous 'round here.

no, we're gonna drop the twin $1.3M contracts of our below average RB's and give them to players with some skills

keep twirling

cut dwyer (fatass), keep redman. he's still good as a backup.

le'veon is our main man, howling or batch the 3rd down back if needed, let the best win

I know this wont happen but I wouldn't mind our back looking like this Bell, McGahee and Leach

he was good when he was with the bills/ravens, and had one good season as a bronco. i wouldn't want to pay top dollar for a running back with his mileage. he's just 1 injury away from ending his career (if that already didn't happen last season)

I'd rather have Will Johnson than Vonta Leach for a pretty simple reason: Leach is on the back nine and Will is on the front nine of their respective careers.

I wouldn't mind McGahee as a backup to Bell, though. He's definitely better than Redman and Dwyer.

that's what I'm saying, youth, explosive vet and more talent

but our bitter clingers refuse to think outside the box

get them for the same price or maybe less as tweedle dee and tweedle dum

call Shero, get some action going here

doesnt he have more miles on his wheels then bradshaw?
dont really wanna see anyone brought in who is gonna get more than 5 carries again.. would rather just see redman as a back up and little shortage yardage, and maybe batch, and howling

Bell 20 plus carries
Redman 5-10 he did good in short yardage situations, and when he doesnt need to be the guy
batch/howling blocking on 3rd and long, passes out of the backfield..

i could get behind leach being brought in for a year or 2 though thats for sure.. always hate when the ravens signed him cause he is a horse. and so what that he is 31 he doesnt need to be great for another 10 years, just a year or 2. but im guessing with will johnson improving and the fullback position dying out, not sure it will happen

Why would we want a guy who'll only pass out at the very sight of Ryan Clark every time he sees him?

No way I want an old back like McGahee. I give the guy a lot of credit for having a solid career after that brutal knee injury in college. He's done as far as I'm concerned. I want this team to get younger and more talented, not older and less talented.

As for Leach, he's a great blocker, but he's up there in age and I think Haley and the Steelers want someone that is more dynamic in the backfield. A guy that could take the occasional handoff and be active in the passing game.

Running backs typically burn quick
Who is Denver replacing him with? Unless I missed something nobody special...the fact they're willing to let him walk says something...

I will say that if McGahee was to end up with the Steelers it might be a difficult situation for him. I mean every time Ryan Clark would cross his path he'd probably fall into a fetal position and cry.
