View Full Version : The Last of Us

The Last of Us is the greatest video game I've ever played on any console. From beginning to end, it's easily the best game of the generation, and will compete with even next-generation games for a long time to come. Absolutely amazing effort by Naughty Dog putting together one of the most intense interactive adventures I've ever had the privilege of experiencing, and this coming from a guy with nearly 80 PS3 games, and every Naughty Dog game ever published.

I've played and beat nearly every game ever considering to be an all-time great, and this ranks way up on that list. It's a must have for all PS3 owners. A truly significant title for this generation.

I have an HD PVR 2. This is a device that allows me to record gameplay and post it to popular websites such as Youtube and Daily Motion. Here's the Opening credits for The Last of Us:

I have play-through videos on my channel, but i'd only watch them if you know you couldn't possibly play this game.

Also, the cinematic presence of this game easily ranks high on my favorite movies, too!

i have been burned by naughty dog and their critics now four straight times. and the girl's voice in the trailer annoyed me. and it looks like it's trying to make an action-y walking dead and that comparison will be on my mind constantly when playing. i'm gonna wait until it's about $20 to get it. no hype for me

Wow. Really? How have you been burned by them? They are producing fantastic games. Much better than anything EA is offering.

All of EA's games are being tested after release by us and some are so bad they are virtually unplayable.

If you dislike Naughty Dog's games, you're one of a VERY small number of people. Every game they've ever produced has been up for "Game of the Year" considerations, and The Last of Us is no different. There's a reason it's sold 1.7 Million week one. Best game I've ever played. Perfect balance of Stealth, Horror, Survival and Action, with an amazing cinematic story to follow.

Greatest game I've ever played. Hell, i'll send you a screen-cap of my friendslist tonight sometime. For a PS3 Exclusive, EVERYONE is playing it, and I have over 100 friends. I can count 23 playing it right now. 1,700,000 Units sold week one. 10/10 on virtually every magazine. I doubt you'll be disappointed.

I waited two years for this game, and I have a Day-One Digital copy, as well as a "Survival Edition" disc copy that came with some cool stuff. Put over $139.99 into this game, and I regret nothing.

jak3 followed by three uncharted games I was assured of by a million people were some of the greatest things ever created. they get praised for stories but i was literally unable to like any of uncharted's characters.

I thought Tomb Raider was better than the last Uncharted - but maybe that's just me

what pisses me off is these companies sell add-ons, then package a deal with all the add-ons later on down the road after I bought them

PS3-exclusive Lara Croft compilation of Underworld, Anniversary, Legend priced at $40.

You can buy add-on's separately, or day one with a "Season-Pass". I bought the season pass for The Last of Us at $19.99, which'll give me three multiplayer map-packs and a single-play expansion. These four add-on's would probably cost $9.99 separate from the season-pass, so it's a good deal. Sony Computer Entertainment publishing is very good with value. Others, not so much.

It's a difficult game, but I found it repetitive and boring. Games like The Last of Us and Heavy Rain keep me reeled in for a long time. Hell, Rockstar's "LA Norie" wasn't half bad, to be honest.

LA Noire had a variety of different cases, including the Black Dhalia. I wouldn't call it boring. Heavy Rain was just an awesome game.

Picked it up along with a PS3 a couple of days ago... I don't regret it! Not very far into the game at all but I'm thoroughly enjoying it thus far. The storytelling seems to be top notch as well as the graphics and the gameplay. I like that it plays on your emotions from the get go. Definitely one of the best intro sequences I've seen in a game to date. Looking forward to getting to play it some more this weekend (hopefully) if the boss allows me to.

TLoU is above and beyond anything I've played this generation. The last game I played before this one came along that had such an effect on me was Heavy Rain, and I think this game is far better.

Finally beat this a couple of days ago. What an absolutely brilliant game. I can't say enough about how great this game really is. It's one of those rare titles that I will forever keep in my gaming library.

Are there any differences if you play again?

yeah - I finished it - pretty entertaining - but it seems as soon as I got my guns built up and got the assault rifle the game ended - wtf?

I let the credits all roll through in case there was some hidden play - but nope

I've played through it twice, and it's linear. Seems the Assault Rifle is for the final missions, although you don't really need it for the previous ones. If you play it through again you can play on "Plus" mode which gives you all the weapons upgrades right off the bat & allows you to work on that from the beginning. If you beat the game on "Normal" it'll say "Normal Plus" or "Normal +".

Yeah fan voted awards suck. The mainstream games always win. GTA is one of those win by default games, I hate that. The games that actually have a coherent story and don't work almost exclusively off of shock value rarely get the true credit that they deserve. I sincerely hope Last of Us gets GOTY. I've played a lot of games in my time, across all systems, and it's definitely on my Top 5 of all time list.

They have got to get back to their roots. Capcom hasn't been doing so well. If they'd listen to their loyal fanbase I think they'd be in better shape right now. Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 were both mediocre. Resident Evil 6 was more like an action movie featuring zombies than a true survival horror game hence, the lackluster reviews across the board. They need to get back to the terror, the not knowing what was going to pop out, or what was around the next corner. I felt like Resident Evil 1, 2, and 3 each had stories that were somewhat believable. Resident Evil 5, and Resident Evil 6 took the series into the direction of corporate conspiracies and storyline twists that were laughably unbelievable.

Resident Evil hasn't been a horror game since the days of Nemisis. I'd love to see the story back in that direction. This game looks like it could be a promising horror game for the next generation:

Hopefully the next gen systems take advantage of their new power and developers create some truly terrifying games. I can't wait to see the next Last of Us on PS4.. it will be epic!
