Ben snubbed for Pro Bowl replacement?

With Wilson and Manning going to the Super Bowl, they opened up 2 spots for Foles and Luck. Foles was lights out this year and deserved in over others anyway, but Luck?
He's going to be great, but I don't know about that this year.
Ben had
more yards
more TD's
Higher completion %
Higher passer rating
More big plays (more +20 and +40 plays)
Higher avg. yards per completion
more passing first downs

Only thing Luck did better statistically was throwing only 9 INT's to 14 for Ben. But then he went ahead and threw 7 more in 2 playoff games.

and Luck likely did it with more talent around him since they were a playoff team. Luck also played against the 3rd easiest strength of schedule, while the Steelers were middle of the pack.

Looks like a definite snub- pro bowl is meaningless- but still an honor to be selected. Just one more reason to be motivated for a more productive start, middle, and ending of next season.

Yeah I thought for sure BR would be in the Pro Bowl when Wilson won. Sadly, everytime I searched "Ben Roethlisberger" on Twitter to get an update, I just got people complaining that Richard Sherman is chastised for his behavior while Ben is still in the league after "raping two women" :coffee:

Maybe Brady will still sit out :noidea:

I didn't really want to bring up Brady, because I do believe guys who've been around and done it year after year deserve a little credit for that. So I really have no problem with Brady, but if we were comparing stats.

Brady had 5 more yards per game
Ben had completed 64% to 60% for Brady
Ben had 3 more TD's, but he threw 3 more INT's
Ben had a 92 passer rating to Brady's 87
Ben threw for 1 more first down, had more big plays (+20,+40) and had more yards per catch.

Overall, Ben was statistically better than Brady, but if you go ahead and give Brady the nod over Ben because of career, how the hell do you give Luck the nod with lesser stats.

NFL wants new and exciting faces to make money, the Colts made the playoffs and Luck is young and supposedly great.

This, right here, is the real reason.

Most people around the country do not like Ben Roethlisberger, and I don't need to explain why that is.

I imagine the NFL wishes he would just disappear and they didn't have to acknowledge him.

The obsessive butthurt from Seahawks fans is beyond old, which is one more reason I hope they lose in two weeks...

What else is new. Fantasy stats are all the count and Goodell's league goes along with it.

I can honestly that of the 40% that say they dislike Ben (per the Forbes article), somewhere around 30% are people who simply don't like him because he's the Steelers' QB; that is, the team that everyone hates because of their success, and he has brought the team much success over the past decade. The remaining 10% are probably radical feminists who have never watched a football game nor taken the time to read a single sentence of the overwhelming evidence exonerating Roethlisberger.

This is further solidified as Mark Sanchez is at 40% (this would be less because of his "success" and more because he's a former USC QB in the biggest market in the country), Cutler at 33% (another big market, receives major coverage of being 'soft'), Romo at 32% (very successful, but "chokes" in primetime), Brady at 25% (Success), Palmer at 24% (big time USC player turned bust), and Bush at 22% (see Palmer).

All of the disliked players have one thing in common: they have all been placed on huge stages and had major success, whether in college or the NFL. For whatever reason, people loathe those who are successful. They may give you a different reason, but at the end of the day, we know why certain people are more hated than others. It's just convenient to scapegoat a separate reason as to make themselves seem less bitter than they actually are.

TDs: Smith: 23, Ben: 28
INT: Smith: 7, Ben: 14
CMP%: Smith: 60.2, Ben: 63.3
RAT: Smith: 89.1, Ben: 92.0
