Green Bay is now Pittsburgh "North Central"

Ken Whisenhunt started it.

When he left Pittsburgh to become Cardinals head coach he took Russ Grimm, Kevin Spencer, and Matt Raich with him...

It's pretty normal for newly hired head coaches to bring in staff and players they're familiar with and already have a good working relationship with...hardly a phenomenon started by Whisenhunt

Trying to emulate the most successful franchise in the NFL is nothing new. Teams have been assembling as many "Steelers" systems, players, coaches, and management for many years now. Some teams are taking it to new limits. Let's see if the Steelers can up their game and make the adjustments necessary to take this team back to the promised land.

Screw the clones! :flap:

The hilarious truth about this sentence in relation to the OP is that the Packers were one of the first, most dominant NFL franchises that were emulated.

40 years ago when Noll was hired and succeeded, due in some part to the tutelage of Sid Gillman, did people call Pittsburgh 'San Diego East'?

:noidea:

Tomlin is also under Dungy coaching tree and Dungy worked under Noll. So clearly the Steelers are 'San Diego East'!

A gutsy part of the Noll hire (after Joe Paterno turned the Steelers down - Steelers were the Browns of the 60s) was that it was after Namath torched a Colts defense coached up by Noll as Shula's assistant

Noll was brought on after Steelers took a shot at being Green Bay South by hiring Lombardi's OL coach Bill Austin, which did not work out too well (11-28-3 in three seasons)
