NFL may expand replay to personal fouls, and more

Bout time...

---------------

Two of the 13 rule changes the NFL is considering involve expanding the use of instant replay by allowing coaches to challenge personal foul penalties and potentially much more than just that.

While I like the idea of getting the calls right, I loathe the idea of making games ever longer.

Get rid of challenges. Put a guy in the booth with the same powers as the rest and let them confer to get calls right.

I say still keep each team to no more than 3 challenges per half to help keep down the drama. Because you already know the Harb brothers would throw the challenge flag "every-single-freakin'-play " !!!

agreed. actually i think they should have an entire team of refs in a booth , each looking from a different camera angles at the same time. every penalty should be looked at. i'd even give them the power to call in penalties missed on the field.
they usually have what 40 -50 seconds from the time one play ends (at the whistle) till the next snap ? if every angle is being monitored in real time all the time , it shouldn't take long to deliberate.
if a system like this were in place years ago, we wouldn't have been bitching about james harrison being held every play...:noidea:

It may work the opposite too, refs getting tired of their BS calls being overturned and finally just letting them play football (the old fashioned way).

I was thinking the same thing.

If they're not careful, there will be challenges for everything from flinching body parts to dirty looks.

"The coach is challenging that the Right Tackle's left pinky flinched before the snap..."

At some point, you just have to let them play.

they need to allow challenges to personal fouls or pass interference calls. some of them are bullshit
