Mike Adams: Is he fighting to make the team?

It's almost unthinkable to consider that this 2nd round pick with a God-given monster body might not make the cut in his third year, despite no credible backup at OT. But this guy has shown no ability to block in passing situations - none at all. He still looks like the rawest of rookies - slow, indecisive, soft, ... just hanging his head, overwhelmed, beaten every which way, beaten every play. Just plain beaten down.

Is this the end of the line? How could we put him in there in a regular NFL game?

This is the first time that I've begun to actually consider the impossible: that this guy might already be done.

I think he's in danger if this keeps up throughout this preseason.....If there is another guy who emerges, they're not going to let draft ego get in the way of them getting the best depth they can on that line.....years of guys constantly going in and out because of injuries better have taught that coaching staff the value of good OL

Cut him if he doesn't improve by game 4.

Couldn't watch the game. Was it really THAT bad?

He was individually beaten in almost every pass play. It was awful.

I made a point to watch Mike Adams more than most tonight because I didn't think it was possible for the guy to get any worse play after play.

I was wrong.

If I remember correctly our o line got better last year AFTER he was benched?

Yep. There were a few times where the Giants backups beat the dude so bad that Adams had to literally turn his entire body and put his back to the line of scrimmage in the form of backward pursuit. Dude is one of the softest 2nd round lineman I've ever seen.

he probably won't get cut but if he weren't a 2nd round draft pick he probably would be...

pretty much this. the only reason why he's not in danger to get cut (this year) is because of his draft position.

on the other hand I'm really pleased with the way gilbert progressed. the guy looks awesome. beachum too. looks like we have 2 long-term starters at tackle who play really well. now we're just looking for serviceable backups at tackle. adams is getting outplayed by whimper on that front.
