The Pro Bowl wide receiver finally showed up at training camp, an apology to his teammates in hand, no longer a distraction or a source of concern to a team that went deep into the playoffs last season and expects to do so again.

There were smiles, handshakes and hugs, rather than whispers of resentment or questions about his sincerity, when Hines Ward resumed practicing Wednesday with the Pittsburgh Steelers

I am glad the Hines situation is nothing like TO's. It is great to hear that all is well with the Steelers players. I am so glad to have him back. He is definitely one of the leaders and the rookies can learn a lot from him.

hines is a special commodity (sp?). he is a team player. he puts everything into his team. and he is a great guy. i got to meet him at a charity basketball game the steelers put on for my work. i was his "body" guard for the night keeping everyone away from him as he signed autographs. he then later signed my football i had brought in the locker room and had the other players sign it as well that was there. very cool person.

I agree. I know people will say if he is a team player why did he hold out. I believe him when he says it was a business decision. I do think he loyality is with the Steelers and that he will give 110% like he always has. You are right Blair. I met Hines his rookie season or maybe his second season. He was awesome. He was great with the fans and joked around with them.

I'm glad Hines showed he was a class act. Now hopefully the Steelers will do their part.

I knew he would receive a warm welcome back. This may be a special season with the return of Ward, and the fact it is Jerome's last year.
