Hurricane Katrina
Does anyone want to get in on a possible SteelersFan donation for the victims of Katrina? As much as I'm ashamed of myself for putting out the earlier thread about helping these poor people and the price of gas, I for one have the need to do something. I guess I hadn't realized the magnitude of the devastation. Babies dying and everything. I have a 1yr old and I don't know what I'd do if anything happened to him. Let me know if anyone has another idea. I'm thinking of taking in refugees.

Re: Hurricane Katrina
I'd be interested in helping out Lambert. What did you have in mind?

Re: Hurricane Katrina
i would but after seeing how un appreciated some of those ppl are, shooting at ppl trying to help and stuff, it made me mad, and plus they are moving some of those ppl in to my little ass town way in south texas, so if they ask for volunteers here i'll probably go help out, if i'm not in school.

Re: Hurricane Katrina
Not quite sure...I'd like to specifically help out the kids. I don't know if there is a special organization for that or not.

Re: Hurricane Katrina
One of my clients is going to be sponsoring a camp that is going to housing 250+ people displaced by the storm until they can move back...I don't have the details yet, but it sounds like any donations will be 100% spent on this camp, so you wouldn't need to worry about big percentages of donations being siphoned off for overhead and bereaucracy...

Re: Hurricane Katrina
i donated 5 bucks today, not much but i'm in college and i don't have much money to spare. i wouldn't have donated but at the checkout lines at the wal mart here they are asking for donation and i don't want to be an ass and tell them no cause i know they'll give me a look like i'm evil or something so i said the hell with it and just gave em 5 bucks. and there finna bring about 500 ppl here so i guess they need the money a little more then me

Re: Hurricane Katrina
The American Red Cross is the probably the best way to donate. I told my wife last Tues, why doesn't somebody come up with a Sponsor a family, or host a family Idea.

Re: Hurricane Katrina
The wife is going to take a bunch of baby clothes, toys and adult clothes to the salvation army and instruct them that they are to go to Katrina relief efforts only.
Thats great stuff suit!! Keep us informed! |
Re: Hurricane Katrina
We will bo what we can here also. Probably through the Red Cross.

Re: Hurricane Katrina
If anyone is interested, this is the website for the camp that is aiding the people from Katrina. They are estimating costs of $5000 a day when the camp fills up, and until they can get some FEMA money, they are going to be hard pressed to keep up with expenses...
