Sounds like the Clark situation is still serious - with an injured spleen I certainly can see why he needs to be held out to be ceratin another hit would not be catastrophic.

Would be great if Clark was back next Monday but his presence is actually more crucial for Air Crennel the following Sunday.

Definitely hope Aaron Smith can go but need to have him healthy for the second half of the season - Tomlin was not afraid to sit starters for Seattle and that may be true here as well

as much as i am sure tomlin wants to win a football game i dont think he would put his players in danger of getting seriously injuried or something. he seems like a very smart man.

and by the way.... why dont we have our qb on the injury list???? brady is on it every week...lol.. oh wait, or qb isnt a wimp...

I agree. If a player is not feeling up to par for the game he should prob. stay out. I would rather have everyone healthy then to lose them on a season ending injury which could hurt us in the long run.

Steelers Smith, Kreider could play Monday
Tuesday, October 30, 2007
By Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Defensive end Aaron Smith has a chance to return to start for the Steelers against the Baltimore Ravens Monday night.

Coach Mike Tomlin said today that Smith's rehabilitation from a sprained MCL in his left knee has gone well and he "may have a chance" to play.

Smith, one of the team's best defensive players for years, missed his first game Sunday against Cincinnati, breaking a string of 115 consecutive games played.

Also, fullback Dan Kreider has recovered well from a sprained ankle that knocked him out of the game in Cincinnati and there also is a chance he will play Monday night, Tomlin said.

The news was not so good on backup tight end Jerame Tuman. He played in Cincinnati after missing the previous game in Denver with a back sprain. Tomlin said he's back on the injury list with his injured back and doubtful for the game against the Ravens.

Tomlin says Kreider better than expected

Head coach Mike Tomlin said on Tuesday afternoon the Steelers' injury news is encouraging in advance of Monday night's showdown with Baltimore.

Fullback Dan Kreider "is doing better than we potentially anticipated," Tomlin said. Kreider suffered a sprained ankle early in Sunday's 24-13 win at Cincinnati. "There's a chance that he could play," against Baltimore, Tomlin said. Free safety Ryan Clark (abdomen) will be monitored from a conditioning standpoint, Tomlin said, after missing the Cincinnati game.

"You have to characterize him as questionable at this point," Tomlin said. Defensive end Aaron Smith (knee) also missed the Cincinnati game. "We're going to tape him up and see what he can do," Tomlin said. "He's done great in the rehabilitation exercises. He may have a chance to play for us."

Wide receiver Santonio Holmes (quad contusion) and wide receiver Hines Ward (knee) should play against the Ravens. Tight end Jerame Tuman (back) is being characterized "probably as doubtful," Tomlin said.

Tomlin confident about decision to put Big Ben back in game after injury
By Scott Brown TRIBUNE-REVIEW
Tuesday, November 6, 2007

Mike Tomlin said he didn't have any second thoughts about putting Ben Roethlisberger back into the game Monday night after the Steelers quarterback sustained a hip contusion.

Roethlisberger, who tied a team record with five touchdown passes in the Steelers' 38-7 win over the Ravens, will be ready for the Steelers' game Sunday against the Browns at Heinz Field, Tomlin said.

"We fully expect him to play this weekend," Tomlin said today at his weekly news conference.

The win over the Ravens left the Steelers with their share of bumps and bruises. Running back Willie Parker has some inflammation of his knee while fullback Dan Kreider suffered a concussion in the victory that upped the Steelers’ record to 6-2.

Linebackers Arnold Harrison (stinger) and Clint Kriewaldt (calf) also got hurt during the game.
All are expected to play against the Browns, who are just a game behind the Steelers in the AFC North.

The Steelers may also get starting defensive end Aaron Smith and starting free safety Ryan Clark back for the game.

Smith, who has a sprained knee, will try to practice on a limited basis Wednesday, Tomlin said, and the Steelers are encouraged by the progress Clark has made while recovering from a spleen condition.

Tight end Jerame Tuman continues to struggle with a back problem and Tomlin said the Steelers haven’t ruled out surgery to correct the problem. The Steelers have been resting Tuman in an attempt to get him healthy and back on the field.

"We've just got to exercise some patients to see how it unfolds," Tomlin said. The Steelers will not look to bring in another tight end if Tuman’s back problems persist, Tomlin said.

He added that he is happy with the job tackle Max Starks has done while lining up as an extra tight end.

I'm just so glad he's not hurt. the look on his face as he hobbled on the sidelines looked real bad.
