Wow. Lewis must really be worried about his job. He's going to have to clean house over there.

They mentioned that the bengals were a little "miffed" about Odell missing significant time with his suspension...being reinstated...and immediatley taking an unexcused week off during camp last week.

Some guys just don't get it. Of coarse, if I was forced to wear a Bengals uniform, I may take unexcused time off as often as possible before they finally cut me.

I would imagine that if they're going to release him it will be on/after June 1st to minimize the cap hit as much as possible....

EDIT: Then again, maybe not.

Bengals release Thurman, suspended last 2 years

May 19 11:48 AM US/Eastern

Cincinnati (AP) - Troubled linebacker Odell Thurman has been released by the Cincinnati Bengals, one month after he was reinstated by the NFL from a two-year suspension.

The Bengals said Monday that Thurman wasn't meeting expectations. The Bengals are holding voluntary workouts in preparation for the team's mandatory minicamp next month.

The move comes one month after the Bengals released receiver Chris Henry following his fifth arrest.

Thurman was suspended for the 2006 season by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell after he skipped a drug test and was arrested for drunken driving. The suspension was extended through the 2007 season.

In Odell's defense, his grandmother just died and he had been missing OTA's for that. A lot of fans are pretty pissed about it.

:noidea:

Very perplexing timing.

Espn was saying that the Bengals didnt have a problem with him going to the funeral...but had a problem with his not notifing anyone in the organization.

Well in this case..I was the one who reported it...and since I specifically said it was an ESPN television report...(correctly identifying the source)....No link was needed or required.

(But then again,...if most the people I knew were Browns fans...I may be skeptical of what I heard...I mean..they think they are contenders...right?)

Don't misunderstand.......... I had no doubt what you said was true......... I wondered what on earth took the Bungholes SO LONG to do it, but didn't everyone know this was what would happen somewhere along the way from a couple seasons ago up til now ??

......and it's not JUST Browns fans thinking they are contenders !!!
