I know that PSU did well this year, but come on Joe Pa.

He really does want to drop dead on the playing field some Saturday afternoon doesn't he?

well, then he can say he'll literally live AND die for football. -- i say he throws in the towel. but why not go for 400 wins, right? ha!

Joe Paterno is the man...a legend...and an icon. i am a HUGE Penn State fan and i want to see Joe Paterno live to be 120 and still coach the Lions...BUT, he needs to take a bow and call it quits...but not before 400 wins. =)

I was THRILLED when I heard this news! I LOVE JOE PA! I want to see him on the sidelines for as many years as he feels he can be there. He is such an inspiration to so many, young and old alike. He LOVES what he does and holds fast to his ideals/principles no matter what the media folk have to say, or pressure from any outside sources. A few years ago many were calling for him to step down ...that the game had passed him by. HA, guess he proved them wrong! The Lions were a field goal away from having a perfect season. Yeah, sounds to me like the man doesn't know how to coach anymore. ROSE BOWL here we come!!!

GO LIONS!! We are....PENN STATE!!

Seriously, I do think that's how he'd like to go out. How many people get to check out on their own terms, let alone doing something they love?

He's earned the right IMO. As long as he outlasts Bobby Bowden I don't care if it takes another ten years.

Jo Pa has proven that he can still recruit and has what it takes to run the team. Like most HC, he defers the playcalling so thats the biggest issue in regards to his age as far as I'm concerned.

steelman i was thinking of you when i heard this. i knew that you would be excited. i think he and bobby bowden are going to die on the sidelines at their respected schools. i am definately not a penn state fan, but i do love the fact that JoPa is still the coach there and still can get the job done. hats off to him and a great season! good luck in the rose bowl!!
