When in Pittsburgh...
I have been reading some threads of folks planning trips or stop overs in the city of Pittsburgh, and thought it would be kinda neat to have our own travelers guide to the city here at Steelers Fever. Just a list of some things to do "when in Pittsburgh".
Whether it be sites, attractions, bars or restaurants, the city of Pittsburgh has always been a truly diverse city with something for everyone. It seems like so long ago that I've explored the city for myself, that everyones input always interests me. Times change. I can remember going on class field trips to the Zoo, Buhl planetarium and for Gateway clipper rides when I was younger. Do they still have the big model train setup at Buhl during the holidays? See, things like this, I don't even know. Sites/Attractions: Mt. Washington and the Inclines Senator John Heinz Regional History Centre/The Strip Carnegie Museums of Art & Natural History Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium National Aviary Phipps Conservatory & Botanical Gardens Fort Pitt Museum/Point State Park Roberto Clemente Bridge (Sixth Street Bridge) PNC Park Heinz Field Carnegie Science Center & UPMC Sportsworks Andy Warhol Museum Cathedral of Learning Ppg Place Kennywod Park Sandcastle Water Park Allegheny Cemetery Restaurants/Bars: Primanti Brothers Whollys Fish Market Jerome Bettis Grille 36 Quaker Steak & Lube Mcfadden's Calico Jack's Lu Lu Noodles Firewater's Peppi's De Luca's Restaurant Shopping: Station Square The Strip Definitely You I know there's way more I'm missing here guys/gals, so help me out. |
Re: When in Pittsburgh...
I got to visit there in 2005 and had a blast with the science center and the submarine tour. I also got to ride the incline the view was great from up there! It's true that the BURGH has a small town feel cause the people were just great!!!

Re: When in Pittsburgh...
i would recommend taking a day and spending some time in Oakland. take a tour of the Cathedral of Learning (which is the tallest school building in the western hemisphere) and go to the Carnegie Art Museum. that should be worth a day in itself. but when it comes to eating, go to Lulu's Noodles on Craig St. the BEST oriental food i've ever eaten and i eat a lot of oriental food. it was actually voted Best Noodles in PIttsburgh the last 7 years running. (i'll have to double check those facts.) but Oakland can be one of many stops on your journey.
you'll definitely want to do the Riverwalk. you can go from Point State Park to the North Shore by foot and walk across the Roberto Clemente Bridge, around PNC Park, Heinz Field, and stop at the Carnegie Science Center beside the football stadium. eat at Firewater's, McFadden's, and if you were feeling really up for it...go check out the Andy Warhol Museum (my personal favorite pitstop in Pittsburgh.) there is clearly so much to do and i have yet to experience a lot of it. but those are the things that i REALLY love to do. also, check out some of the grafitti down there. amazing artists. =) |
