WE THE PEOPLE!!!

Republicans...Democrats....Independents....Whateve r!!!!! We are taking over!!! Well....in this thread anyway.

With the power invested in me I authorize everyone in this thread to pass ONE law apiece that will make this a better country. Give KUDOS to those who are "spot on"...and discuss those that might need some adjusting.

Law #1: Politicians can only gather contributions for elections from registered voters of that politicians district...with a $1,000 cap on contributions per person.

Do you realize what you're saying Man?! This law would have robbed us of our "savior".:rofl::rofl: "above my paygrade", indeed.

On that note: If making the country better is the criterion, then Law # 4 should be "At no time, and for no reason, will a child be taken from his Mother's womb, except to save that child if it is in distress, or save his Mother if she is in distress." There are probably still loopholes for baby killers in that one, but it is the best I can do.

Destroy the current tax code, eliminate the IRS altogether, and go to a stripped down flat 14% tax (with a few exemptions/abatements for CONFIRMED low income people) for everyone.

I may be a Christian, but I second this. I'm looking more at schools when I think about this, because there was a Muslim family that went to my high school. Should they be made to take part in mandatory prayer that some people are calling for? And on the flip side of this, why are other religions acceptable to learn about in history classes, but learning about Christianity is a no-no? It's impossible to include everyone when considering religion in governmental decisions like schools, etc, so just...don't.

My other thing is - and I don't know if the government could ever do anything about this - is teaching hospitals. I understand med students need to practice...really. But I almost died when I was 12, because someone got careless. A routine surgical procedure almost killed me, because they did it wrong. People have told me that we don't have to sign consent forms for med students to do procedures if the procedure is done in a teaching hospital. They didn't tell us that med students were going to do it, but afterwards, it was painfully obvious that med students had, because no competent doctor would have screwed that up. I was 12 at the time, but I think everyone has the right to know what's going on while they're under for surgery, regardless of age.

Raise the HSA contribution limit to $12K a year and abolish all restrictions on covered expenses and using the account on behalf of third parties.

Um, we have that now.

Or do you think that religious people should not be able to voice their beliefs like atheist people?

Right. I mean the only way to have "complete and utter" separation of Church and State would be to not let any person who has any religious conviction of any kind run for public office. Any person elected is going to take their "church" with them when they enter office. They are still most likely able to govern according to the constitution or the law, but their "church" is always going to be with them. By the way, was Barak Obama a church going man ?
