MORE DRILLING FOR BLACK AND GOLD

To be a champion, it takes hard work. Sunday it was the goal line drill, and on Monday it was the third down drills. Sunday the defense shined, on Monday it was time for the offense. In all the first team offensive unit hit on five of six third down attempts against the first team defense. Backup Charlie Batch and Dennis Dixon also looked good.

"It's early a lot of guys are out here competing and I think that is what you want," Batch said. "You have to take advantage of the opportunities you get early on in camp."AP FIL E PHOTO

With Parker standing on the sidelines watching his teammates, Rashard Mendenhall saw most of the reps. Undrafted rookie Isaac Redman continued to be impressive and is making a statement for a roster spot.

Tomlin gave the Men of Steel the morning session off.

LEBEAU HUMBLED

As we reported Saturday from Canton, Rod Woodson singled out a lot of former coaches, but one in particular, Dick LeBeau, the current Steelers defensive coordinator.

"Man I hope the voters seriously get it right," Woodson said. "First off he belongs as a player, and if you don't want to put him in as a player you put him in as a contributor, because he has done so much for the NFL in his 50 years. He deserves it. So the voters are going to get sick of me talking about putting him in."

LeBeau said he was touched by Woodson's remarks.

"I was surprised by it,” LeBeau said of Woodson’s remarks. " I didn’t expect to hear my name in Rod Woodson’s acceptance speech. But what a tremendous honor it is that it was in there. What a great compliment it is to me."

MILLER TIME

It's been limited, but Miller is slowly getting back into the thick of things from his sports hernia. Miller, who was on the field Monday was rusty, but he also came up with some big plays.

FACES IN THE CROWD

Steeler training camp has become the place to be scene during Camp. Already John Calipari, former Broncos coach Mike Shanahan, West Virginia coach Bill Stweart and singer John Legand have been seen on the sidelines. On Monday Chris Mortensen along with Ron Jaworski were on the sidelines. Pitt coach Jamie Dixon was also in attendance watching the Steelers drills.
