Has Peter King Bitched About the OT Rules Again Yet?
You know, since he went on and on this past postseason about how tragically unfair it was that Lord Manning never had an opportunity to get back on the field against the Bolts and how the OT rules needed to be changed pronto to prevent such an injustice from ever occurring again.
Considering that last night's game could very possibly have huge implications on playoff seedings/berths down the road, has he written another whinefest demanding that the Competition Committee change the OT rules to allow each team at least one possession? No? Is that maybe because he doesn't have the Titans' balls on his chin? Something to ponder.... :scratchchin: |
Re: Has Peter King Bitched About the OT Rules Again Yet?
He tweeted about it last night:
"Overtime rules stink. Both teams need a possession. @michaelombardi. We can start the 09 season debating the overtime rules." http://twitter.com/SI_PeterKing/status/3904121002 |

I've never really agreed with them either, but that is some excessive whining. Hell, we're only one game into the season... Can't change them mid year so why whine about it now?

Here's what he said today, with not a peep about how "unfair" the OT rules are: Quote:

I was talking to a titan fan friend of mine and we came to the conclusion that they should play another 15 minutes of football and if there is no winner by the end of it, then it's a tie.

Hey....they had a chance to be in the game with their defense. You all know if we had lost the toss, we'd be expect our D to win that game for us, one way or another. And they are more than capable of doing it.
They let Ben waltz all the way down that field.......to the winner goes the spoils. |

I don't particularly like the OT scenarios either, but I despise the word 'tie' even more.

Re: Has Peter King Bitched About the OT Rules Again Yet?
I prefer the college system myself.
The Pro seems to moreso leave it chance on whether or not you've won the coin toss. And this is me,speaking moreso as a guy who's looking for entertaining games to watch, not strictly as a Browns fan. When I saw the Steelers had won it, I knew right away what was going to happen. Roethlisberger was going to lead a drive down field with relative ease because the Titans were playing the Conservative Zone/Prevent Defense, something he THRIVES off of. Get it down to the 20 and win the game via Field Goal. A very, very, very anti-climatic ending. I propose that both teams get to start at the 50, like a more challenging version of the aforementioned college rules. After a couple of OT'S and the game isn't settle, a forced two point conversation is made mandatory just like the college rules. I also think the "One-foot in bounds" rule should be imported into the pros and the playoff system should be exported into the NCAA. ;). |
