2010 Steelers Journal
This is a journal on the steelers using madden 08 pc because it's best to extract the stats, and it's just simple to get screenshots ect and i dont have a next gen console...

my siders are most ly in the minus, qb awareness 34, accuracy 45, rb ability and oline blocking 40, defensive sliders are in the plus especially awareness, interceptions are at 8. I like defensive matchups so A.I. don't go getting 400 yards a game.

i fired bruce arians and hired tom moore, fired the sp teams coach and hired a crappy not highly known guy.

Week 1 - Game Report

8:30 PM ET, September 14, 2010
M&T Bank Stadium, Baltimore, MD

Pittsburgh Steelers (0-0) at Baltimore Ravens (0-0)

Ravens steal the show against the Steelers
Santonio Holmes had 4 receptions for 9 yards before leaving the game

Game Photos
Joe Flacco gets sacked by James Harrison early in the first quarter.
Hines Ward stiff arms a defender
Rookie Bryan Evans gets his first start of his NFL Career in the absence of Ike Taylor

Box Score 00 - 03 - 07 - 08 -18 07 - 07 - 07 - 03 -24

It was over when...
With 8 minutes left, the Ravens successfully converted a field goal to put the Ravens up 21-10.

Game Ball
The Pittsburgh steelers did not allow a 100 yard rusher for 34 consecutive games, Newly signed back Dominic Rhodes gained 106 yards on 22 carries including a 37 yard touchdown run.

With Dick Lebeau ill and Ike Taylor in a holdout, the Steelers gave up 180 yards in the first half, most by air.

In the Ravens first posession James Harrison sacked Flacco, they then gained a 12 yard run but then threw a near 50 yard touchdown as William Gay got burnt by Dominick Hixon.

William Gay kept getting burned and Joe Burnett couldn't cover Todd Heap, which could be the story of the 2009 Steelers with the absence of Ike Taylor. The Steelers made a game of it in the fourth quarter, but the Ravens dominated the Steelers in this one.
Dominque Foxworth completley shutdown Santonio Holmes as Ben Roethlisberger found it hard to find targets.

It doesn't get much easier as the Steelers travel to Boston to face the Patriots.

The Steelers had not lost an opening season game since 2002 which they lost to the Patriots 30-14

Week 2 - Game Report

1:00 PM ET, September 21, 2010
Gillete Stadium, Foxborough, MA

Pittsburgh Steelers (0-1) at New England Patriots (1-0)

Steelers control the Patriots in their backyard
Santonio Holmes had 2 touchdowns, one shown here he leaps over a defender and then dives for the touchdown

Game Photos
Laurence Maroney weaves in and out of defenders
Santonio Holmes goes tip topes and catches a 30 yard touchdown pass
Tight End Heath Miller had a career high day

Box Score 00 - 10 - 17 - 07 -34 00 - 10 - 03 - 07 -20

It was over when...
With 3:54 remaining in the 4th quarter, Ben Roethlisberger threw a 19 yard torpedo to Santonio Holmes for the touchdown to put away the Patriots 34-20.

Game Ball
Ben Roethlisberger completed 65 percent of his passes and threw for over 370 yards and passed for 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions... Heath Miller had 9 receptions for 140 yards and a touchdown.

The Steelers were winless coming into a hard opening schedule but overcame adversity and overpowered the dominating Patriots in a new decade. The Steelers nearly found themselves up early but a Roethlisberger interception in the endzone negated any thought of that.

Instead they nearly found themselves down 14-3, but the punishing Steeler defence overcame the mind tricks of Tom Brady and only allowed him to 269 yards on the day, William Gay played another bad game, Wes Welker had 130 yards, he burned Gay on most plays but couldn't get that touchdown in the endzone, instead Gay dropped the.
Santonio Holmes toyed with Nate Clements casually throughout the day.

Incredibly bad news came as Rookie Starting Cornerback from Georgia Bryan Evans who had shutout Randy Moss in the first quarter Partially tore his MCL and will be sidelined 12 weeks. Ike Taylor may get a new contract if the Steelers defence who were ranked #1 3 years in a row want to find themselves out of a unit ranked #28 in the NFL.

Steelers crush Texans with ease
Ben Roethlisberger dislocated his shoulder and will be out 5-6 weeks

Game Photos
Dennis Dixon prepares to throw
William Gay celebrates after his interception after harsh critisism
Dennis Dixon celebrates after his touchdown run
Ben Roethlisberger airs it out

Box Score 03 - 00 - 07 - 00 -10 07 - 17 - 00 - 06 -30

It was over when...
With 12 seconds remaining in the second quarter, William Gay intercepted Rex Grossman and took it 24 yards to Put Seibler in Fieldgoal Range to put the Steelers up 24-10 at halftime.

Game Ball
Dennis Dixon filled in for an injured Ben Roethlisberger and threw for 193 yards and two touchdowns, he also ran in a 15 yard touchdown.

The Pittsburgh Steelers hosted the Houston Texans for their first Home Season Game of the year. It didn't dissapoint as their defence returned to form against a winless Houston Texans team.

Ben Roethlisberger went out with an injury, But Dennis Dixon racked up 21 points on his own and that put the Texans to bed. The Steelers travel to New Orleans next week to duel the Saints in a NBC Clash.
Santonio Holmes and Hines Ward celebrate after a Defensive 3 and out.

Pittsburgh Steelers Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will be out maximum 6 weeks after dislocating his shoulder. Dennis Dixon will get his 7th start.

Heinz Field, Pittsburgh, PA

New Orleans Saints (1-1) at Pittsburgh Steelers (2-1)

Steelers show they are the big dawgs again
Dennis Dixon shows he can play with the big boys as he throws for over 280 yards

Game Photos
Drew Brees completed 72 percent of his passes
Mike Wallace caused major matchup problems with his speed
Pierre Thomas gained 70 yards on the ground versus a tough Steelers defence

Box Score 00 - 00 - 00 - 14 -14 10 - 00 - 07 - 03 -20

It was over when...
With time expiring and the Saints trailing by 3, Lones Seibler kicked his second field goal of the game to secure the 20-14 win.

Game Ball
Mike Wallace caught 7 passes for 153 yards including a 55 yard touchdown, which occured on the first pass play of the game.

The Steelers shut out the Saints for well over 3 quarters, but got a scare in the 4th quarter as Drew Brees came to life, but it was not enough as the Steelers salvaged the win, courtesy of Dennis Dixon's passing and running performence.

Since Rashard Mendenhall fumbled the ball, he has been alternating series with Mewelde Moore, but remains the starter quoted from Mike Tomlin during the press conference.
Dennis Dixon renewed his 2009 form and built upon it's success against the Saints.

Next week the Pittsburgh Steelers host the winless 0-4 Cleveland Browns who swept the Steelers last year.

Week 5 - Game Report

4:15 PM ET, October 12, 2010
Heinz Field, Pittsburgh, PA

Cleveland Browns (0-4) at Pittsburgh Steelers (3-1)

Steelers shoot themselves in the foot and allow a 23 point lead to slip away
James Harrison had 3 sacks, but the defence gave up 250 yards in the 4th quarter

Game Photos
Tim Tebow broke out in the 4th quarter

Box Score 00 - 07 - 07 - 23 - 03 -40 14 - 03 - 10 - 10 - 00 -37

It was over when...
With the Cleveland Browns winning the overtime call, and choosing to recieve, Tim Tebow hit Lorenzo Brooker on a 33 yard reception to set up the game winning field goal.

Game Ball
Rookie Tim Tebow completed 19 of 30 passes for 310 yards and 4 touchdowns with no interceptions.

When Isaac Redman plowed in for the touchdown early in the 4th quarter leading Pittsburgh to a 34-14 lead, moments later due to interceptions and bad coverage they found themselves fighting for the second place in the AFC North.

Tim Tebow hit the reciever at the back of the endzone sending the game into overtime, things got worse as he got even more clutch and delivered the Browns their first win of the season. Now Pittsburgh who are 3-2 face at home the Bengals 3-1 for the second place in the AFC North next week.

The Steelers have now lost three straight to the Cleveland Browns, something that has not been done for quite some time.

Next week against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Steelers have the #1 ranked offense whilst the Bengals have the #31 ranked rush offense but boast the #4 total defence #1 ranked rush defence.
Tim Tebow could well be the savior to the Cleveland Browns.

The Steelers released Chase Daniel who threw two interceptions, they signed Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to a $1.64M deal who will start against his former team as Dennis Dixon is out with a injury.

The Steelers will renew Ike Taylor's contract ending the dispute, the Front Office are hoping he is the success to ending the big yardage situations.

Week 6 - Game Report

1:00 PM ET, October 19, 2010
Heinz Field, Pittsburgh, PA

Cincinnati Bengals (3-1) at Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2)

Steelers win defensive slugfest, 4th quarter comeback
Santonio Holmes could not get open when Fitzpatrick threw the ball

Game Photos
Cedric Benson pounds the ball into the defensive line
Rookie Joe McKnight eludes Chris Henry for the touchdown
William Gay dances after he tackles Coles way behind the line of scrimmage

Box Score 00 - 03 - 16 - 00 -19 00 - 10 - 07 - 03 -20

It was over when...
After a 70 yard drive which included 8 straight pass completions and with 3 seconds left trailing 19-17, Pittsburgh Place Kicker Lones Seiber hit the field goal good for the win 20-19.

Game Ball
When Ryan Fitzpatrick was benched at halftime Troy Smith threw for 139 yards and completed 12 of his 14 passes.

With it pouring down with rain, you knew the teams were going to try and establish the run, two of the best run defences in the league.

Even though the Steelers won the game talked about missed opportunities, Ike Taylor intercepting a pass in the Bengals 10 yard line, only three points, William Gay intercepting a pass inside his own 10 yard line only to lead to a fumble that turned into a 27 yard Benson touchdown run... Every time
the Steelers got into Bengals territory they threw an interception or fumbled the ball away.

Defence bailed them out big time. Or was it Joe McKnight who returned one to level the scores 17-17?. Either way the offense didn't produce till the last 2 minutes of the game.
Cedric Benson was mostly shutdown, except for his 27 yard touchdown run.

Immediatley following the Game, Ryan Fitzpatrick was cut, with Dennis Dixon and Ben Roethlisberger due to nurse injuries over the bye week and Dixon to be back starting, Tomlin resigned Rashon Harris and stated that they will keep Troy Smith after is admirable performence
