FS Kam Chancellor
 

FS Kam Chancellor is looking pretty good in the EAST VS WEST GAME on ESPN 2....Todd McShey(or something)....mentioned him as the 3rd best prospect on the entire EAST squad...He said that Chancellor finally proved that he can play Safety in the NFL because he proved that he can cover as well as help in run support....

If we don't get FS Earl Thomas in the first round then I would want the Steelers to seriously consider FS Kam Chancellor in the 3rd or 4th round!!!!! But thats my opinion....what do u guys think of this guy??? He's finally getting recognized which is not a good thing for us......

Totally respect your opinion and yes I agree that he has received some glowing reports from the shrine week. However he is not really facing any QB's or QB's that are going to set the NFL alight.

I have watched a few V Tech game and I think Chancellor can be a liability as FS playing the deep cover role. He is often caught out of position and being a big guy he is slow to regroup when has been turned around.

I have stated here before that I would much rather have him as a strong safety who backs up Troy and plays that run stuffing / rover type role. In a pinch he could play FS but I am not sold on him as a full time FS. He is a way better run stuffer than cover man.

I have seen him shown up badly in college football by average players. I hate to imagine what NFL elite talent will do to him.

If we want a FS to eventually replace Ryan Clark then I think you better draft a guy that is first and foremost a pure cover FS. Better off spending a 2nd to get Nate Allen IMO.

If we can get Chancellor for great value (4th) then I would grab him as the replacement for Tyrone Carter.

Agree w/you on most points....he does look to be more of a SS @ the next level but he may be able to play FS(Thats more than I can say for Taylor Mays...he has to show me that he can cover in the Senior Bowl!!!)....and in the NFL it's a whole different ball game!!!! i just hope that the Steelers pick up FS EARL THOMAS....I honestly hope that he doesn't get drafted before the 18th pick....Thomas would instantly upgrade our defense....Nate Allen wouldn't be a bad pickup.....If I'm not mistaken I've heard that he's very versatile like Thomas....but the difference is that I heard that Allen can play both SS & FS.....As for Thomas I've looked at some reports and some scouts have been saying that he might be able to play CB @ the next level because of his athleticism.....so all in all I would want the Steelers to address the Safety position w/ either the 1st pick or the 2nd!!!!

I like Virginia Tech and Kam Chancellor I just don't know that he is what we need on our defense. Hopefully we can get Earl Thomas and not have to worry about this pick.

I still think he's better suited to gain some weight and play as an undersized OLB. He looked good in the game Saturday, but I was most impressed with his ability to manhandle WR's and the line and the fact that's he's a big hitter.
