Reggie

If you were in charge what would you do to get Reggie Bush??? I am just curious as to what our be loved Steelers Nation would to get the best player in the draft?

I will tell you right now.

No-one here would do whats necessary to get Reggie Bush, which would have to be something along the lines of the Ricky Williams trade from N.O. to Miami years back.

Here is a link to a draft pick value board.

http://www.theredzone.org/2005/draft...valuechart.asp

As you can see - pick 32 is worth only 590 points compared to 3000 points for pick No.1.

This means the Steelers would have to give up multiple 1st round picks (from this year and probably the next 3) - because the Steelers picks will probably be in the bottom quarter of the draft each year.

Either that, or throw in some big names currently on the Steeler playing staff.

Re: Reggie

The price?

Lets see...

Our 1st this year and next.
Our 2nd this year and next.
Our 3rd this year and next.
our 4th this year and next.

Thats would be right about numerical value. Which probably would not get it done.
So add in one key starter. Like Ike Taylor. Or Marvel Smith.

:poop:

No thank you.

IMO, what we would have to give up in order to get Reggie Bush is not worth it. While I agree Reggie Bush is a fine football player, throwing away your future and present players/picks over one player would not be a smart move.

I am not being serious here I am just saying what would you do to get him.

Re: Reggie

What I would do?

Nothing really. He could be the league's best running back, or he could blow ACLs in both knees on his first play. Or he might be overwhelmed with the defensive speed in the NFL and be at best, an average back. Not that I think either of those things will happen, my point simply being that even as good as he is, he's still an unknown, still untested in the NFL and thus, he only deserves to go to teams that have a legitmate shot at him without messing up a currently good and cohesive team.

If the Steelers draft goes as well as their last few drafts, Bush is irrelavent because as defending champs returning with nearly all our starters (losing only a few during free agency), how much better would we be with him as opposed to other needs? The difference would be very minimal. Say, to put a number to it, 99.5% vs 99%. Would you really blow the bank for that extra 0.5%?

The way drafts work is to maintain parity in the NFL, or at least attempt to. Teams that blow multi-season draft picks to move up the list that high to take one guy only wreck their teams. Besides, even if we pulled the trigger, I doubt we have the cap room to sign him.

Nothing. Because as I already stated, what I feel we would need to do in order to get him is not worth it in the long run. Interesting hypothetical question to ponder over though.

Re: Reggie

i would probably trade willie parker for him, but bush's signing bonus will probably be 100x greater than willies salary for next season (no joke $20 million vs $200,000) -rough ball park figures here.

Re: Reggie

exactly, not even close to worth it. I love Willie, but he cannot pound it inside and neither will Bush. The NFL game has so much more speed and is a heck of alot more physical than the college game. There is a good chance that Bush may not even be " that great " in the NFL. Very few players that have Bush's makeup have really made an impact in recent times. Sanders about does it and that is a very big longshot. I wouldnt give up anything to jump to number 1 for him.

That being said, the pick makes sense forthe Texans. The have Davis as the power back, QB is set with Carr and have two good receivers. Pick Bush at 1 and then i would spend the rest of my picks on OL lol
