Alonzo Jackson ready to prove himself...
Well its about time!!!
Alonzo Jackson arrived at Steelers minicamp having dropped eight pounds.
Now, he'd like to drop something else - the label attached to his name that reads "second-round bust."
The Steelers drafted Jackson 59th overall in 2003, hoping the former Florida State star could upgrade their pass rush.
At the time, Steelers coach Bill Cowher said, "It would be nice to create sacks without some of the blitz pressure we've done."
It still would. But Jackson, who played defensive end in college, has yet to show that he can help in that area or any other. He has dressed for only nine games in two seasons and has yet to record a sack.
"You could say that," Jackson said. "You could say a lot of different things. But all that is behind me. I'm trying to go out this year and make it happen. I understand what you need to do to be an NFL player now.
"I'm ready to rock and roll."
