Another OLB
Why? It was going so well and now this wasted pick.
Do they have some deal with the devil that they have to pick LBs each year regardless of how many they already have and how many more units need help? I would have much rather seen a OL, NT or WR or DB taken. Oh well, hope they make enough good picks to offset their retarded over-the-top LB picks. |
Re: Another OLB
Chirs Carter had a 3rd or 4th round grade so they saw him as the BPA. Plus Worilds is our only back up OLB, I dont mind adding depth.
But I agree I wish we went NT here. |
Re: Another OLB
You got to look at the situation.
Woodley could be asking for crazy money. Timmons contract is up after this season as well. Farrior is probably done after this year. Harrison is getting up there in age. Foote is an expensive back up. I'm seeing that 1-2 players will be gone from there. Which leaves Carter Sly Worilids to fill in those shoes. |
Re: Another OLB
I love this whole draft, and being a diehard Steelers fan for awhile now, this is the EXACT format I'd expect them to follow. If a linebacker of value is there in the later rounds you bet your ass that Steel-town is going to welcome a position that rocks Pittsburgh with open arms. You say it's a wasted pick but yet, it's the defense that has driven our foundation since the early days and how we go about things.
1. DE 2. OG 3. CB 4.CB 5. OLB A pure draft with drafting a beast that was best available at a given position, met our needs within the next couple years and also a special teams/future pass-rusher added to the mix. It's what we do. Deal with it, I love it. |
Last pick: Tweener of all tweeners
Quote:
He has never player LB or anything with his hand not on the ground. He is a one trick pony - goes after QB. That will not work in trying to play OLB in the 3-4. No way. He is going to be lost out there. Can't play in space at all. Why not pick up an OG or DB that has a chance to make the team instead of a tweener who has no shot at making the team? |

Another thread wasn't necessary for the same complaint....

Re: Another OLB
One major problem: Quan Sturdivant, ILB, was still on the board.
Our ILB situation is even more thin than OLB, where even one of our ILBs, Timmons, is a more natural OLB to begin with. Farrior is way old. This Sturdivant kid was there and was considered the top 3 ILB in the entire draft. And yet, they reach for a kid who, if they are lucky, might be able to play OLB some day. He certainly isn't ready now. Why would they not take Sturdivant? We need ILBs more than OLB. There was a stud for the taking, and they had to make a pick just to surprise ppl instead of just making the pick that made sense. Quote:
