Re: Will Troy retire a Steeler?
Troy is entering his 8th NFL season and beyond some FREAK injuries (2009, 2011) I see his craft only get BETTER. Troy is that one of a kind player that comes even FEWER than one of a kinds. His whole demeanor as a person truly is inspiring and his play on the field certainly reflects that.
I can go on and on about Troy Polamalu. Wonderful human being meets vicious football athlete. Troy WILL retire a Steeler without question. |
Re: Will Troy retire a Steeler?
Bob Sanders was released because over his career, hes missed like 3 more games than hes played in, and was a waste of cap room. Troy on the other hand has missed some time, but when hes in, he makes the D totally different.

Re: Will Troy retire a Steeler?
he gets injured again this season then wants huge money come contract time i can see us letting him walk. he is the best saftey i have ever seen but if he cant stay healthy he cant help any team. hopefully he just stays healthy all year and plays his best

Re: Will Troy retire a Steeler?
If there's one thing I've learned over the years from the Steelers, it's that nobody is safe. If your production drops below your compensation level, then you are likely gone. The Steelers don't waiver with this stance. If Rod Woodson and Franco Harris can be released to finish their careers elsewhere then Troy can also. It's really up to how long he wants to play and how much money he'll forego if his play declines to stay a Steeler.

That maybe an indication to why he went back UCLA recently.

Re: Will Troy retire a Steeler?
I feel as long as he plays at a strong level and doesnt miss more than 4 games per year, he will stay in Pittsburgh. Right now the team is completely different when hes not there (just look at 2 seasons ago). He is far too valuable right now, but I suppose if he were to drop in production, or someone better came along (yeah right) they may release him. I learned long ago to not question Steelers personnel decisions.
The last time I questioned a personnel decision was when Porter got cut, and of course James Harrisson replaced him. Colbert and the coaches are a lot smarter than me, and the Steelers are consistently great. |
Re: Will Troy retire a Steeler?
I think he will give us the "hometown" discount. He is a big comraderie guy and he loves the locker room. He has enough money to last him three lifetimes, so I think we will be able to keep a hold of him...at least through the golden years.

Re: Will Troy retire a Steeler?
Just to stray from the masses here...I think he could end up playing one season with some random team...idk San Francisco? Anyways he plays one season there, misses every game except like 3 with injury, and retires.
