New Roster Prediction after Eagles game
 
Offense: 25 players
Defense: 25 players
Special Teams: 3 players


QB (3): Roethlisberger, Dixon, Leftwich
RB (3): Mendenhall, Redman, Moore
FB (1): David Johnson
TE (2): Miller, Gilmour
WR(6): Ward, Wallace, Crotchery, Sanders, Brown, Battle
OL (10): J. Scott, Kemoeatu, Pouncey, Foster, Colon, Gilbert, Legursky, Hills, K. Williams, C. Scott

DL(7): Smith, Hampton, Keisel, Hood, Hoke, Heyward, McClendon
LB (8): Harrison, Woodley, Timmons, Farrior, Sylvester, Worilds, C. Carter, Foote
S (4): Polamalu, Clark, Mundy, Allen
CB (6): Taylor, McFadden, Gay, Lewis, Warren, Brown

Three players played well yesterday to make the roster: Keenan Lewis, Donovan Warren and Arnaz Battle. Battle may also be valued in being a leader in special teams. I previously predicted that Cortez Allen will make this team but he seems too raw to spare a roster spot. He will be practice squad .

I'd be afraid to put Cortez on the pratice squad IMO :noidea:

Yeah, well someone has to be put on the practice squad or cut. By the way, you listed 7 CBs, ETL.

I know that Warren showed himself well against the Eagles, but I still see him, at best, as a long shot. He is a prime candidate for the practice squad. If Crezdon Butler can't get healthy long enough to show that he can contribute, he is also a practice squad candidate. I also do not believe that they keep 10 offensive linemen at the expense of Jonathan Dwyer. I believe Chris Scott is currently the odd man out in the group (who is also eligible for the practice squad). Ed Bouchette also noted that Tyler Grisham is still eligible, though I'm not sure how. Nevertheless, I will take his word for now.

I don't see how Chris Scott makes this team right now. He's been awful - maybe as a warm body in case we continue to struggle with injuries along the line.

I like Warren so far, he could get a spot.

Haven't seen much from Carter. Has he really done enough to make the team?

Also, has Moore got a role? Is he the only RB on the team that can catch a pass in our 3rd down offense? If any of the 3 backs can handle that role, then it's time to cut bait with Mewelde....as much as I like the guy....:noidea:

A fourth round pick from Citadel? I'm sure teams are just waiting to snatch him up from our practice squad :chuckle: Being injured with practically no camp because of the lockout, he'd be a good candidate for the PS. Donovan Warren in the man.

Thanks for heads up, i corrected my error.

I was not too impressed with Dwyer. You may be right about Chris Scott but with all our OL injury troubles, even someone like Scott may be of value to have on the team if he is familiar with the offense.

Yeah, problem is Chris doesn't appear to be too familiar with blocking. :chuckle: Honestly, I'd rather scour the F/A list rather than keep Scott...unless he really shows something next week.

Look for them to start the season with only 6 Defensive Lineman. They may keep more then 10 DBs at the expense of a 6th Wideout or 10th offensive lineman.

Lots of DBs to choose from, do the Steelers sacrifice a young guy now for McFadden or Gay who won't be with the team much longer? I say carry the extra DBs this year for the future.

Going way out on a limb here, but if Macho Harris can get on the field I think he will impress them.
