Crosby, Penguins agree on 12-year extension
Crosby, Penguins agree on 12-year extension
Thursday, 06.28.2012 / 1:11 PM / News By Dan Rosen - NHL.com Senior Writer Sidney Crosby wanted to be a Penguin for life. Now he's got the contract that should get him closer to his goal. Crosby and the Penguins have agreed to terms on a 12-year contract extension worth $104.4 million. The contract, which will go into effect starting with the 2013-14 season and will last until Crosby is 37 years old, comes with an average annual value of $8.7 million. That's the same AAV that Crosby has in his current contract, which expires after the 2012-13 season. http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=636359 ----------------- His contract works out to $8.7 mill average...the same he makes now. Well below next seasons max of $14.03 mill. This extra money saved will certainly help in luring Parise over here. Well done Sid. |

thats great news.
Crosby's being here is more than about "stats" and "titles". He's a face of the city and image. If he left, it would be a devastating blow to the city........maybe not on the level of a LeBron James/Cleveland type of thing, but not far away from it. |

Sid is playing pretty good hockey at the midpoint of this season. Hope he continues to play at a high level and stays healthy, since Malkin continues to get banged up.
