Every 3rd Season?
Has anyone else noticed how the Steelers have stunk every 3rd season since the 2000 season?? Let's break it down...
2000 - 9-7, no playoffs 2001- 13-3, AFC Championship game appearance 2002 - 10-5-1, divisional round 2003 - 6-10, no playoffs 2004 - 15-1, AFC Championship game appearance. 2005 - 11-5, Super Bowl Champions 2006 - 8-8, no playoffs 2007 - 10-6, wildcard round 2008 - 12-4, Super Bowl Champions 2009 - 9-7, no playoffs 2010 - 12-4, lost Super Bowl 2011 - 12-4, wildcard round 2012 - 2-3 start, how does it finish? Just some food for thought, discuss... |
Re: Every 3rd Season?
Yup, thats the trend, but I still have faith.
If the Seahawks can reach the playoffs at 7-9 we can too. :-) |
Re: Every 3rd Season?
I actually noticed this also! I thought I was the only one. I was driving by myself the other day and thinking about our current situation and this three-year trend dawned on me. Let's hope that it stops here and we can turn this one around unlike our '00, '03, '06, and '09 incarnations.

Re: Every 3rd Season?
That's pretty freaking spooky man! But I'm cool possibly winning our 7th in the next 2 years cause ain't no way we getting it this year.

Re: Every 3rd Season?
After careful research, I think I've stumbled upon some corresponding events in those years which may have had an influence on the Steelers' playoff chances.
2000 -The Pyrenean Ibex goes extinct 2003 –The Concorde SST is retired 2006 - Pluto is demoted to "dwarf planet" status 2009 - Longest total solar eclipse of the 21st century I think I may be on to something... ...or ON something.. (I always get that mixed up...) |

think we woulda drafted ben in 2004 if we didn't do so bad in 2003? :chuckle: |

Re: Every 3rd Season?
BUMP
Not to say I told you so, just to see if anyone can shed some light on the issue. Obviously no one could have known we would have lost Ben for 3 weeks just when we were getting into a good rythem. The offense actually looked alright last night (after the first quarter anyway) but stupid errors killed us, see Antonio Brown and the 30 yard return that went horrible awry. What's wrong with Pittsburgh??? |
