Salary Cap
With all the talk on who will stay and who will be gone in a couple of years (particularly Ike Taylor) I thought you all would like to see who is making what and be able to use the numbers to make an informed opinion.
*Disclaimer* I cant vouch for the figures (things may have changed since this article was written) but it does give a rough estimate. . (I tried to weed out those players that I knew where gone..but may have overlooked some..so mentally cut those that the coach has physically cut) PLAYER___POS______CAP VALUE_________BASE SALARY_____SIGNING Ben R.-----QB---------$4,545,850-------------$655,500-----------$1,547,400 Charlie B QB $976,666 $710,000 $266,666 Omar J QB $38,333 $275,000 $38,333 Duce S RB $2,671,250 $1,500,000 $1,171,250 Willie P RB $425,000 $425,000 Dan Kr RB $1,150,000 $940,000 $210,000 Verron H RB $757,500 $595,000 $162,500 Cedric H RB $10,000 $275,000 $10,000 Heath M TE $1,235,500 $373,000 $862,500 Jerame T TE $1,050,000 $750,000 $300,000 Hines W WR $6,083,333 $2,750,000 $2,000,000 Cedrick W WR $1,975,000 $1,475,000 $500,000 Nate W WR $1,250 $350,000 $1,250 Quincy M WR $465,000 $585,000 $40,000 Santonio H WR $1,037,934 Willie Reid WR $426,033 $275,000 $151,033 Marvel S OL $6,595,500 $4,400,000 $2,195,500 Alan F OL $5,947,750 $3,700,000 $1,597,750 Jeff H OL $6,454,166 $2,200,000 $4,254,166 Kendall S OL $1,335,664 $800,000 $535,664 Max S OL $601,667 $425,000 $176,667 Trai Essex OL $503,333 $350,000 $153,333 Chris K OL $370,583 $350,000 $20,583 Chukky O OL $1,041,083 $585,000 $456,083 Willie C OL $369,500 $275,000 $94,500 Ike Taylor CB $1,573,000 $1,573,000 Deshea T CB $1,282,500 $710,000 $572,500 Bryant M CB $619,750 $350,000 $269,750 Ricardo C CB $1,018,063 $425,000 $474,450 Chidi I CB $610,000 $585,000 $25,000 Troy P S $2,247,500 $827,000 $1,089,000 Ryan C S $1,062,500 $650,000 $412,500 Tyrone C S $697,500 $625,000 $47,500 Mike L S $465,000 $710,000 $40,000 Anthony S S $448,833 $275,000 $173,833 Clark H LB $3,736,666 $2,200,000 $1,236,666 James F LB $4,158,750 $2,900,000 $1,258,750 Larry F LB $2,825,000 $2,175,000 $650,000 Joey P LB $5,462,083 $3,850,000 $1,387,083 James H LB $768,750 $425,000 $343,750 Clint K LB $976,666 $710,000 $266,666 Rian W LB $387,167 $350,000 $37,167 Andre F LB $2,750 $350,000 $2,750 Aaron S DE $5,860,666 $4,500,000 $1,360,666 Casey H DT $4,993,750 $3,250,000 $1,543,750 Brett K DE $1,482,500 $660,000 $822,500 Travis K DE $2,103,333 $1,550,000 $553,333 Rodney B DE $465,000 $585,000 $40,000 Chris H DT $966,667 $800,000 $166,667 Orien H DE $92,666 $275,000 $92,666 Chris Gi P $1,301,250 $1,088,750 $212,500 Jeff Reed K $1,565,000 $1,250,000 $300,000 Greg W LS $1,750 $350,000 $1,750 53 ROSTER - CUT Shane B QB $1,000 $275,000 $1,000 Branden J RB $1,000 $275,000 $1,000 John Kuhn RB $1,000 $275,000 $1,000 Doug E RB $1,000 $350,000 $1,000 Isaac S TE $1,000 $275,000 $1,000 Charles D TE $34,666 $275,000 $34,666 Jon D TE $1,000 $275,000 $1,000 Sean M WR $722,000 $722,000 Lee M WR $425,000 $500,000 Eugene B WR $425,000 $585,000 Adam H WR $1,000 $275,000 $1,000 Isaac W WR $1,000 $275,000 $1,000 Walter Y WR $1,000 $350,000 $1,000 Barrett B OL $465,000 $810,000 $40,000 Brandon N OL $1,000 $275,000 $1,000 Ulish B OL $1,000 $275,000 $1,000 Tim Brown OL $1,000 $275,000 $1,000 Brandon T OL $1,000 $275,000 $1,000 Nick H OL $1,000 $275,000 $1,000 Grayling L OL $1,000 $275,000 $1,000 Marvin P OL $19,716 $275,000 $19,716 Kyle A OL $1,000 $275,000 $1,000 Anthony M CB $1,000 $275,000 $1,000 Zach B S $1,000 $275,000 $1,000 Mike L S $1,000 $275,000 $1,000 Arnold H LB $1,000 $275,000 $1,000 Richard S LB $1,000 $350,000 $1,000 Ronald S LB $1,000 $275,000 $1,000 Shaun N DE $1,000 $350,000 $1,000 Lee V DE $1,000 $275,000 $1,000 Scott P DT $1,000 $275,000 $1,000 Mike B P $1,000 $275,000 $1,000 Mark B K $1,000 $275,000 $1,000 DEAD MONEY Noah H RB $20,667 Shuan N DE $20,667 Tommy M QB $1,100,000 Willie W CB $250,000 Jerome B RB $1,100,000 Mike L S $283,333 ESTIMATE –SFA/UDFA 2005 ALL $35,000 Matt K TE $20,000 Alonzo J LB $260,750 Fred G WR $197,333 Workout Bonuses ALL $150,000 TOTAL CAP $98,800,087 NFL SALARY CAP $102,000,000 STEELER ADJ ($1,533,794) STEELER CAP $100,466,206 STEELER $1,666,119 ***Thanks to AZ Steeler for the link**** I also apologize for the format...cant get it to line up even with microsoft excell |

Re: Salary Cap
When you look at the Steelers roster there is a lot of talent on there and guys that you know could be difficult to cut because they could end up somewhere else. I would like to see some guys go, just because they are reaching the peak of the coaster, so we can retain a lot of our younger talent that has shown great promises (Tayler, McFadden, Smith).
I know the Steelers always seem to do well with the draft, but this current roster definitely has some talent that's going to be tough to keep because of all the other super stars who's rookie contracts will be coming to end and will hopefully remain Steelers for a long time to come. I wouldn't want to be working the FO over the next few years because there is going to be some really tough decisions to make. Of course we all would like to see everyone stick around but it just doesn't seem possible. |
Re: Salary Cap
this is insane, arent the steelers known for their low pay for players. how can we only have 1 million left but the bungles that signed carson to a 116mil contract arent in this bad of shape.we do pay our lineman very well but bens contract is like todays 1st round rookie. and ward isnt getting top dollar either. all the numbers really confuse me. im glad i seen the payout to know why we are this close to losing porter. i just dont understand how one team can pay out huge contracts to 10-15 guys yet not be over but we can. this always bugged me.

Re: Salary Cap
Aaron S DE $5,860,666 $4,500,000 $1,360,666
no wonder aaron smith just quietly goes about his job. he dont want anyone to know how much he makes. the steelers payscale proves they think it all starts with the men in the trenches |
Re: Salary Cap
doesnt it all start in the trenches on both sides of the ball ?

A prime example of this is the 49ers, they are now paying the price though because the outrageous contracts can't last forever and you usually end up suffering in the long run. Next to follow suit will be the Redskins. What these teams try and do is build a winning ball club, get the ring, and fall back to mediocre. |

Re: Salary Cap
Of course i am bias, but we seriously have Pro Bowl talent at each position on both sides of our line. Each and every position.
