Steeler's Offensive Depth going into Draft
I like to do this every year to get a handle on the depth on the roster and why it would lead us to certain conclusions going into the draft. Every year I have done this, lack of depth at a position has always been correct in predicting position drafting by the Steelers and also the priority of that drafting.

Steelers Offensive Depth going into the draft----------

Offensive Line=================
Maurkice Pouncey C
David DeCastro G
Ramon Foster G
Marcus Gilbert T
Mike Adams T
Kelvin Beachum G/T/C
Joe Long T
Justin Cheadle G
John Malecki G

Not much reliable depth behind the starters who have all been injury prone sans Foster. I could see a good reliable Tackle with Guard options being drafted as high as the 4th. (David Quessenberry or Chris Falk) With only 3 OTs on the roster this is one of those SURE THING DRAFT PICKS.

There also is an insurance policy possibly for sale...."The Max Starks plan".

Running Backs=======================
Jonathan Dwyer
Isaac Redman
Baron Batch
Will Johnson FB

After last season this might be considered a pathetic bunch which indicates a high pick on a RB. Many have said they can find one in the later rounds no problem. That is good when you have a star back already. But when you need one you better pick one in the top 3 rounds. The Ahmad Bradshaw transition to a drafted back (Lattimore?) may no longer be an option after keeping E. Sanders. SURE THING DRAFT PICK

Tight Ends===============================
Heath Miller (injured until Oct?)
Matt Spaeth
David Paulson
David Johnson
Jamie McCoy
Zack Pianalto -this guy is there to fill space.

Questionable with Miller's injury for awhile, but Miller, Spaeth, and Paulson could handle a season together and be alright. Still to draft a Heath Miller type TE like Travis Kelce from Cincy? Bookend Heath Millers for the next 4 years plus!

Ben Roethlisberger
Bruce Gradkowski
John Parker Wilson

Bruce Gradkowski's numbers are no where as good as Batch and Leftwich and lately he has had awful numbers. Letting Brian Hoyer get away to keep Leftwich on the roster last year has cost the Steelers by probably having to use a draft
pick this year. Miami of Ohio's Zak Dysart in the 5th would be a nice pickup but what if Mike Glennon falls to the 4th?

Wide Receivers=================================
Antonio Brown
Emanual Sanders
Jerricho Cotchery
Plaxico Burress
David Gilreath
Kashif Moore 4.42 undersized
Derek Moye our token 6'5" guy
Bert Reed -???

Even with Sanders staying they will have one receiver under contract for 2014. They have drafted two before when they had Ward, Wallace and Holmes and I fully expect two in this year's draft even with Sanders staying. One in the top two rounds and another late. SURE THING DRAFT PICKS

Brown and Sanders have combined for 12Tds in 3 years together compared to Wallace's 26 in that same span.

Special Teams ------------------------

Shaun Suisham
Daniel Hrapmann

Suisham had a great year. Enough said.

Drew Butler

Start calling the best Punter now and tell him if he goes undrafted......

Long Snapper=================
Greg Warren

Probably a UDFA to challenge and lesson cap.

So who very well might be there on Offense for the Steelers to realistically take in the first round at 17.

Chance Warmack or Jonathan Cooper - Guards rarely go early let alone two.
Cordarrelle Paterson WR -teams could be scared off by him a bit
Tavon Austin WR -a superstar but still a slot receiver

Not many choices and all are predicted by most to be gone, so....

could trade down and still have these players available with the bonus of an extra 3rd or better.

Tyler Eifert TE
Robert Woods WR
Eddie Lacy RB
Keenan Allen WR
DeAndre Hopkins WR

Make your own conclusions and enjoy the draft.

Re: Steeler's Offensive Depth going into Draft
Will add one name to my above list for QBs.

Tulane's Ryan Griffin could be a very viable option for the team as they privately worked him out and there is recent buzz about him being a really good sleeper pick late.
