That really sucks for him and his team.

This just sucks. Smoke is my guy and for him to do it here in Iowa that sucks even more. Hoping for a very quick recovery, though that's probably not likely.

this is the 4th time he has wrecked and flipped his sprint car in the last month (a month in which 2 of his fellow sprint car competitors lost their lives in wrecks).

infact it seems he even missed the race in pennsylvania so his team could rebuild him some more cars.

im just glad he quit driving like an idiot asshole in cup (wrecking everybody and himself) several years ago.

it sucks for him but certainly helps out brad keselowski making the chase, so i wont shed no tears.

joe gibbs woulda parked him. i guess thats why he drives for himself. go smoke go!

those sprint cars are dangerous, the driver cage is all open, pieces and parts and arms and legs go flopping in them wrecks as they go tumbling

I don't mind Matt racing on the dirt in the late models though, they are fun to watch

Unfortunate for him, but he should consider his cup obligations before getting into a sprint car. Like Killer said, those things are really dangerous and to risk all he has going for him is rather ignorant imo.

you pay for your thrills

Stewart has metal rod placed in second surgery

A specialist in North Carolina placed a stabilizing metal rod inside the fractured tibia Thursday, according to a statement from the Stewart-Haas Racing team. The operation was a follow-up to a preliminary surgery Tuesday that stabilized and cleaned the Grade 2 injury, the team said.

Stewart remains hospitalized for observation
