No one will replace Cope in radio booth

How do you replace a legend?

You don't.

Which is why no one will succeed Myron Cope as color analyst for Steelers games.

The Steelers, who had been utilizing a three-man broadcasting team, will go to two men.

Tunch Ilkin, who had been sharing color commentary with Cope, will go solo next season.

"I'd be the dumbest broadcaster ever if we tried to replace Myron," said Gene Romano, senior vice president of programming for Clear Channel. "We have a terrific broadcasting team with Bill [Hillgrove], Tunch and Wolf [Craig Wolfley].

Romano chose not to discuss specifics, but Wolfley, who played for the Steelers from 1980-89, is expected to stay on the sidelines with Hillgrove and Ilkin working upstairs. Ilkin played for the Steelers from 1980-92 and has been part of their broadcasting team since 1998.

Couldn't be more true....Cope will be missed. Won't be the same listening to a game.

You gotta think the Terrible Towels will be out in force this year more than ever to honor him.
