Pitt Coach Speaks About Sister's Death
(KDKA) PITTSBURGH It's been six weeks since Maggie Dixon died suddenly.
Pitt head coach Jamie Dixon hadn't spoken much to the local media about the death of his sister.
Dixon has heard from so many people that he felt compelled express his gratitude publicly.
?We have a tremendous amount of outpouring of support beyond our wildest dreams throughout the country and throughout the world really,? Dixon said. ?E-mails and letters have been coming from all over.?
Dixon spoke about the impact of his sister?s death on him personally and professionally.
?You?re always evolving as a person and as a coach,? Dixon said. ?It?s always going to be there. There?s always going to be pain at different times. I?m always going to talk about her and think about her.?
While an initial autopsy was performed, his sister?s cause of death has not been officially released. The family is awaiting the results to come in the mail.
?So many things happened so quick,? Dixon said. ?They gave a preliminary autopsy report and then the official one ? as we were told ? eight weeks afterward and that they would mail us the autopsy report.
?It was a little awkward how things came about,? Dixon added. ?We learned the first preliminary report on the news.?
