Re: Tamba Hali
Manny Lawson was one of quite a few guys who were selected due to their workouts and combine numbers, and not on their actual performance. The Steelers first two players are PLAYERS and were picked based on what they did on the field, which, really, is there any other true measure of talent?
A great example is the selection of Chad Jackson by the pats...even their fans are mesmerized by the workouts and video's of Jackson catching balls in drills...but his average YPC ws 600th in the country, and he was spotty at Florida. The Steelers, on the other hand, had their man, and moved up to get him.
Hali has ALL the intangibles. He was a fine pick...maybe a bit of a reach, but what other teams knew how much of a quality guy he was? Hell, the Bills took a 3rd round guy at like pick #20...you just never know.
