As far as the conditioning, maybe it's time to start adding bonus clauses to contracts for participating in approved workout programs out side of team practice. That includes the off season. That should be worked into the entire league's business model, IMO.
Why should players get an added bonus for doin what they should in the first place?
After all every player should be willing to work as hard as they can for their team.

Might as well dress em in skirts!
