Default Re: 2013 NFL Draft: Steelers Draft Prospects by Position - Safety

2013 NFL Mock Draft 3.0 (Pro Bowl Week Edition)

Jan 26th, 2013 by Dominic Di Tolla

17. Pittsburgh Steelers: Kenny Vaccaro FS (Texas)

Ryan Clark and Troy Polamalu are not getting any younger, and Pittsburgh needs to begin with a legitimate “transition strategy” at both Safety positions. If the Steelers do look for a Safety early, they might be wise to target the talented Kenny Vaccaro (6’1″ 218 lbs.) to begin the re-building process in their Secondary. Vaccaro was the Longhorns’ leading Tackler last year (104) and added 4.0 TFL’s, 2 Forced Fumbles, and 2 Interceptions to his 2012 stat line. A two-and-a-half year starter at Texas (31 Starts, 50 Games), the physical Vaccaro played both Free and Strong Safety during his collegiate career and would be a welcome addition to any Safety-needy team like the Steelers.
Pittsburgh Steelers Sig Mock Draft:

Trade 1(22) = 780 points to Oakland for 2(35) + 3(68) = 800 points

2(35) Eli Harold OLB Virginia
2(56) Alex Carter CB Stanford
3(68) T.J. Yeldon RB Alabama
3(87) Jaquiski Tartt SS Samford
4(118) Jesse James TE Penn St
5(152) Sean Hickey OG/OT Syracuse
5(comp) Derrick Lott DT/DE Chattanooga
6(183) Titus Davis WR C Michigan
7(214) Deon Simon DT/NT Northwestern State
