Re: The Polar Vortex returns next week
For as long as I can remember this sort of weather phenomenon was called an "Alberta Clipper" or was simply described as a dip in the jet stream typical of a winter weather pattern in the Northern Hemisphere.
But I guess "Alberta Clipper" didn't sound menacing enough and so we now have the Polar Vortex (I'll bet they wish they could somehow work Bruce Willis into this too).
BTW, the "Polar Vortex" was first identified 150 years ago and there have been countless scientific papers written about it, so it's certainly nothing new.
Much ado about nothing.
