Any Question Thrown at Him, Richard Sherman Has It Covered

Q. If Michael Crabtree is mediocre, what is Peyton Manning?

A. Peyton Manning’s numbers speak for themselves. I think he’s one of the best in the history of the game. I think he’s broken multiple records to prove that. And he’s a living legend right now. He’s been a living legend for years.

Q. Did you see Jay Z and Beyoncé at the Grammys the other night?

A. I did. I see Jay Z and Beyoncé everywhere. Those are living legends as well.

Q. How much money and donations would it take to cut off your dreads and give them to charity?

A. That’s a great question. I had never actually thought about it. I would have to think about it.

Q. Give us a challenge.

A. I don’t know, it depends on the foundation, if you could help all the inner-city kids in all of America, I’d cut my dreads.

Q. Do you have anything to say to Justin Bieber?

A. I don’t, I don’t.

Q. What do you think of white people in dreadlocks? You must see a lot of it in Seattle.

A. I think it’s awesome. I think anybody with dreadlocks who understand the mind-set and understands the culture is fine with me. I like the support. I like people being who they are.

Q. As far as money is concerned, all of you football guys are going into the strip clubs and throwing, raining down on the strippers. I think that’s a bad example for our young ladies. How can we stop that? I think it’s a bad example that we’re setting for our young girls that they need to be strippers. How do we deal that issue?

A. Well, I’ve never gone into a strip club and thrown money, so I couldn’t tell you. I guess trying to understand that there are other avenues, there’s other ways, that you can make money, that women can do anything they want in this world. You can go out there and be a CEO of a company, you can go out there and — like I said before, the same can be said for kids in the inner city — that the ceiling is limitless and don’t limit yourself to those possibilities and those circumstances.

Q. You’ve been here for 45 minutes, and you haven’t called yourself the best cornerback in the game? You haven’t thumped your chest once. You think you’re letting some people down?

A. Do I think I’m letting some people down? I think I might be letting some people down. I think I let some people down the first day I got here and I didn’t go all controversial because I don’t play to anybody else’s drum, I’m not anybody else’s puppet.
