new deals for tight ends are pretty cut and dry unless you are Jimmy Graham who is half a wide receiver and once paid as such
Yep - tight ends that often are split wide are not happy that their franchise # is a lot
lower than WRs
The difference between the likely franchise-tag designations for tight end and wide receiver is nearly $5 million—about $11.6 million for wide receiver, the third highest-salaried position, to some $6.8 million for tight ends, above only kicking specialists on the list (as estimated by NFL.com). Last offseason, the difference was $4.5 million.
New Orleans GM says deal with it
Multiple reports have said that Graham and his agent, Jimmy Sexton, will file a grievance through the NFL Players Association against the NFL Management Council, seeking to have Graham designated as a wideout because, according to stats compiled by ESPN , he lined up wide or in the slot on 67 percent of his plays last season....
Graham’s snap-count argument doesn't seem to faze Saints general manager Mickey Loomis, who told the New Orleans Times-Picayune at the Senior Bowl last month: “This business about what position he is? I think he's a tight end. That’s where we drafted him, that's where we play him.’’
