When George Allen was coaching the Redskins way back in the early '70's, he was famous for hiring Pinkerton Guards and posting them on the perimeter of his practice facility for the expressed purpose of preventing other coaches from filming his practices.

So the idea of spying on other teams and recording their activities existed long before Belichick ever did it.

I'm not suggesting that it's right -- just that it's nothing that hasn't been done before.
