The trouble with being a fan is when you know that somebody is holding your team back and preventing them from being all they can be, like Dan Bylsma is with the Penguins. On one hand, if they win, then it just gives everybody a false sense of hope, and the problem remains. On the other hand, people will label you a dick if you'd rather the team blow the short term out its ass in order to finally get the problem removed and the team better positioned (and coached) for the long term.
There's definitely something to what you say.
Overall though, I think it's just time to move on. It's not all Bylsma's fault, but after five years (assuming another pre-Cup Final exit) it's pretty obvious that this team needs a new motivator.
It will be an unfortunate circumstance due to stakes.
Danny boy has a few rounds to get things done though.
