Default Re: Five questions facing Steelers heading into training camp

Late in the season, Roethlisberger was less effective and threw five interceptions in two playoff games. In the AFC Championship, New England dropped eight defenders into pass coverage and challenged Roethlisberger to read and react instead of allowing him to freelance and escape from the pocket, which was his trademark throughout the year.

More teams will use the ploy this season. However, Roethlisberger is a year older and a year wiser. He looked refreshed during offseason workouts and has some nice targets to throw to in Hines Ward, Antwaan Randle El, Cedrick Wilson and first-round draft pick Heath Miller.
That is the million dollar question..has his ability to read defenses improved enough to overcome this. he's got the defense, he's got the running game, he's got the OL to protect him, he's got weapons to throw too, and a good its up to Ben to continue to improve.

You can contribute some of that fall off last year to the perverbial rookie wall. by the time december came, he was just flat worn out, he admitted it and u could see it in his play. after all of training camp, preseason and 3 months worth of the regular season his tank was pretty much dry. but he kept on and kept on working and still helped us win games.
